View Full Version : Behind Her Eyes

Netflix has ordered the adaptation of Sarah Pinborough's best-selling psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes – so prepare for a killer twist and bedtime with the lights on after viewing.
The six-part series follows the story of Louise, a hard-working single-mother who is supporting her son with a part-time job in a psychiatrist's office. Her world is thrown off-kilter when she begins an affair with her new boss David and matters take an even stranger turn when she's drawn into an unlikely friendship with his wife Adele.
What starts as an unconventional love triangle soon becomes a dark, psychological tale of suspense and twisted revelations, as Louise finds herself caught in a dangerous web of secrets where nothing and no-one is what they seem.
Ahhhhh the book was so good, Netflix better do it justice

Not all shows do. It must be just me, once I know there's a twist I spend the whole time watching it trying to figure out what it is and a lot of times I figure it out and that's really disappointing

I don't think I have ever seen a crime type show that does not have a twist. Besides the true crime ones. And even them sometimes have one added for suspense
Will add this to my watchlist anyway, though knowing its a book makes me want to read it first, as generally speaking, the books are 100x better than the tv adaptations.

I watched the first 4 episodes last night, here's my prediction (I hope I'm wrong) :
I think Adele killed Robert and what she's actually holding over David is that he dumped his body down the well to protect her. I think she may also have started the fire that killed her parents. I think she bought the heroin to overdose Louise (the last we saw of her was when she was in Adeles house thinking she had OD'd. I think she probably did similar to the woman in the cosy cafe in Brighton.
That's all very predictable so I hope I'm totally wrong. The only bit that's a bit weird though and making me think I might be wrong is that in Louises nightmare it seems like she's in a burned manor house like Adele's family home which would be odd because she wouldn't have known about that house to have nightmares about it or maybe she's predicting the future and Adele will bring her there I don't know. Also what's the story with Adele dreaming she was in the room with David and Louise and that's how she knew about their affair hhhmmmm
Anyway good show so far, I hope the ending doesn't let me down

No spoilers from me :hehe:
But glad you’re enjoying it :hee:
...I love the soundtrack for this.....
...maybe because I’ve just watched Sucker Punch so will probably be completely off key atm...but it’s feeling a bit like Adele and Louise are both his patients and maybe still in the mental health care home even and the whole story is in their dreams ...and he’s meducating them to control them and maybe abuse them...and their medication is giving them night terrors...Louise, may be self harming with the wounds on her arms...

Just finished it, as adaptations go it was a very good one, there are a few differences to the book and a few things that hint towards the end that don’t appear in the book
(Actual spoilers)
In the books you don’t find out that Rob is gay until the swap, which is what makes it such an :o moment
Also in the show in the final ep you obviously see the blue ball watching the green ball enter Adele and the blue ball in the earlier ep was rob, so that’s sort of a giveaway if you’re paying close attention :eyes:
Also in the book Adele kills the cat :omgno:
Niamh.
18-02-2021, 04:34 PM
I'm going to finish it tonight
...oh, I’d forgotten to post which episode it was and I can’t recall but I think maybe episode 2 so quite early....but though...spoiler for episode 4...
...so Adele is a drug addict and that’s why she was in the care home and that’s why David asked Lou about the local area...to find out where someone would get drugs...maybe it wasn’t part of the reason for her to be in the clinic...maybe it was through spending time with Rob in there when she became addicted...?...but and I still think that David is medicating them and that if Adele is an addict, he maybe supplying her drugs ....I’m a bit confused, actually..and did David burn his arm because he started the fire and killed her parents so that she would inherit and he’d planned to marry her to have that inheritance or control it...but he had told her the story that he had saved her and she believed him because she had had no awareness at the fire starting time/...had been high on drugs.etc...?....hmmmmm...
Niamh.
19-02-2021, 12:09 AM
So Gavin figured the twist out partially in episode 5 and then fully in episode 6. I'll do a proper review tomorrow
...spoilers including the ending...
...I hadn’t seen that at all, I’d realised that it was Adele ...Adele from hell, but it wasn’t Adele, it was Rob, obviously and his obsession for David...With Astral Projection you surely wouldn’t be able to project inside any other body, like taking host bodies...that would be supernatural, you would be able to live forever in host bodies and what would happen when that host died...
...anyways, it was a good ending in terms of a twist..(...I guess...)....but I don’t know also...it didn’t quite make sense either but a good watch anyway...it kept me gripped...but poor Adam, though...a pretty horrendous future for him and that didn’t sit right...maybe he would go to live with his dad and step mother and have no connection to Lou/Rob but that wouldn’t sit right with David, would it...and maybe Rob’s drug habit would end his life anyway in the not too distant...
Niamh.
19-02-2021, 10:04 AM
Gav guessed that Adele was going to jump into Louise in episode 5 and then in episode 6 when David and Rob met he guessed that Rob had actually jumped into Adele's body.
It was a good show but the ending is so unsatisfying, I hate that Louise was lost and Adele too because she really was a lovely person after all. And I felt so bad for Adam, I was hoping Rob would leave him with his dad but Ammi is right that David would think there was something really wrong if she just ditched him.

...I was so sure that it was David from the first episodes but then I did a complete turnaround...because that would have been obvious and I knew that it wouldn’t be obvious..it would be the least obvious twist...I just thought that it would be someone living......which it was, but you know what I mean...I think also that, watching Sucker Punch so recently was influencing my thoughts as well and the control of those girls etc...

So disappointed. This was bloody fantastic til the 5th episode. And the 'twist' :umm2: Ruined it all for me,the ending, and how ****ing ridiculous and stupid it was really. Also the **** she was doing for 'astral projection' is actually how you teach yourself to lucid dream. Bloody works too and thats amazing when you can actually do it like. I do not believe he 'omg my spirit can go float around all night and I can possess people' though, oddly enough

That was.... A mess.
I found it boring for the most part, but then the random Astral projection **** just made me laugh and everything that happens in the last few episodes was just too ridiculous and it relied on people being dumb for the plot to work, which I hate. The random supernatural **** actually woke me up a bit and made me pay attention but for the most part, it just felt like twists for the sake of twists. Utter dirge.
