The British activist ‘Tommy Robinson’ has been banned from traveling to Australia for a speaking tour after he was denied a visa by the government.

He had been lined up to speak in five cities in the country, alongside other right-wingers such as Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes and Milo Yiannopoulos.

However, the people behind the ‘Deplorables’ tour, which was due to start in Perth on Friday, said that Mr Robinson’s application had yet to be passed by the authorities.

Mr McInnes has been refused entry to the country, while Mr Yiannopoulos is waiting to find out whether he will be allowed in to Australia.

The Australian Department of Home Affairs told The Independent newspaper that they wouldn’t comment on individual cases but “all non-citizens entering Australia must meet the character requirements set out in the Migration Act 1958 prior to the grant of any visa.”

“For visitors who may hold controversial views, any risk they may pose will be balanced against Australia’s well-established freedom of speech and freedom of beliefs, amongst other relevant considerations,” the statement added.

National requirements for visitors to the country demand that they have no substantial criminal record and that they show “good general behaviour”.

He has also been threatened with legal action over alleged defamation by the family of a Syrian refugee who was attacked at school and YOutube have stopped ads from running in his videos

Somewhere predominantly Muslim, that’ll be a suitable hit of karma for him.

No, i don't think he has been unfairly treated. Like the UK and many other countries they have strict conditions on which they allow entry. He didn't pass the test, the same as thousands of other travellers.

Nah, living amongst people he openly demonises would be punishment enough for him.But he doesn't dislike Muslims, he's had and still has many Muslim friends in his life. He doesn't demonise Muslims, he just speaks out about the teachings of Islam. Do you think Ricky Gervais hates Christians when he speaks against the teachings of Christianity?

I like to consider myself a lone wolf when it comes to matters like this but then i stand by the majority consensus that he should be banned from going anywhere with the views that he has. And I dont have to take advice from you but it was nice that you cared?

Which views in particular? Robinson has only spoke out against the teachings of islam, which admittedly are pretty awful.

I’m not Muslim and even I know that his interpretations of the Qur’an are completely false. He uses one word and completely manipulates it. His views are really awful and honestly, he should just be banned in general

Funny that his interpretations are the same as a lot of muslim nations then, isn't it.

Things like that aren't only about what's printed on the page, but how they manifest in the real world, and the way islamic teachings manifest fully deserve to be deride for the effects they have on women, gays, little girls, and anyone who's not a muslim, or anyone who's the wrong kind of muslim.

Can you name his most objectionable views?

Cherie

Cherie I’m sure you aware with how he behaves and most people just ignore what he says, whereas I don’t. Don’t act all impartial when you know you’re exactly the same

You can make your point by all means, but every thread you throw the personal comments and it diminishes your argument

And Cherie don’t act like his mother because if he was that strong about his views, then he’s strong enough to defend them.

Then again I’m not surprised with the way he retreats and expects one of his cult members to defend him.

so which is it am I his mother or a cult member

He is older than me so I can't be his mother

Like I said, I’m not Muslim but I know people that are and even they can tell you that there are many different volumes and versions of the Qur’an but not everyone reads it as much as some people. Most of the Muslims where I live are accepting of the LGBT community and are in support of women’s rights so I’m not sure where you got that idea from. My religion and much like Islam welcome anyone of any background or race. Tommy doesn’t know anything and he wants people to flock to his sh*t

Like you mentioned, the views on women, little girls and non-Muslims are not true and they share most values just like Christians. Everyone is equal as the teeth of a comb

India has the largest population of Muslims and I can tell you right now, it couldn’t be any more equal! Much like with Christian countries, they share some similar beliefs. Don’t act like you care about the LGBT community when you’re that adamant that Jussie Smolett never got attacked

India has the third largest muslim population, and luckily for the people living there, it's not the central religion.

I like the way you (spuriously) bring unconnected views of mine into the discussion, but can't actually mention anything objectionable Robinson has said. Why not try not making it personal, and say something about the subject of the thread?

When you compare it to other countries, it’s saying something. Islam is a religion of peace and it has many interpretations. Please do not compare them to ISIS and what you see on the media

You'd better tell every islamically governed country they're doing it wrong then.

Not being Border Control, I have no idea. I just did a quick google.

From another google search McInnes and Milo were denied visas as they were deemed by authorities to have been of bad character and then missed a deadline to appeal the decision.

Robinson, Milo and Mcinnes would just be there to give a talk to people who have paid to listen to them.

To be fair, they do attract more violent protests than a lot of speakers. When I was at uni, I'd probably board up my windows if I knew they were giving a speech.

Whatever the reason, the Australian authorities are able to deny entry to anyone they don't deem suitable. Its the same as any foreign national going there....they turn away many people every day. Tommy and the others are not that special or unusual. Australia has always protected it borders fiercely.
