Love or loathe? In strictly marmite terms of course.

I mean I must like it if I'm planning to study there
I'd like to love it, it's one of the most fantastic, historical cities on Earth. At the moment, it's a bit of a Sh!t hole.

I mean I don't hate it so had to pick the other option, but it's honestly a headache if you're there for more than a day... but that depends where you are, I guess.
Pros:
- tons to do
- some pretty elements
Cons:
- honestly the streets just look... a mess, 99% of the time
- shops closing has turned entire districts into boarded-up and shuttered-down nightmares
- hard to stop and breathe most of the time

It's not my favourite city in the world but I do like it alot. Liverpool is the best city in England I've been to and Bracelona is my over all favourite city. Not a massive city fan in general though

I'm not trying to say these are invalid bc it's your opinion but I will say:
1) It depends where you are, I'd say only the 'main roads' where it's really busy can be trashy in places
2) Honestly this used to happen in my small hometown, I don't think it's exclusive to London
3) I've only really had that problem on tubes

I have not you're correct, one day maybe
It's a good day out...not my favourite city cause that's edinburgh. But it's a bloody good day out.

Oh yeah definitely, but given the scale of London it's just naturally more disconcerting to see an entire neighbourhood pretty much derelict rather than say, one high street back home.

fine if you have money
its congested beyond belief
unfriendly
way way too expensive
dirty
way way too many foreigners
the disadvantages far far out weigh any advantages, its a sh1thole and people need to accept that and stop the fairytales

Think you need yourself and the TL on a good day out to London this weekend :pipe:
I think people assume it's expensive because they are tourists, in Zone 1 it's obviously very different to the other zones with everything. If you buy property of course it's expensive anywhere, but anything else is no different. Transport here is cheaper (and 10000x better) than in my hometown too.

It's alright in small doses.
I went down there for 6 days exhibiting in Islington and by the 3rd day I'd had enough and wanted to come home to the peace of Wales! You've never experienced "panic" until you've had to commute on the underground and rush hour! Bit of a difference for me when my usual bus here used to have about 4 people including me on for the whole trip into town! :laugh2:
I've only been a few times, and it seems mad. Don't think I could tolerate it ngl. Edinburgh >>>

I mean neither apply.
I don't hate it with a passion (I mean, I live here now so I have to like it) but it also is nowhere near the best city going.

I’ve been once to meet an ex forum member and i had fun but he since blocked me on whatsapp (this happened years after the actual meetup mind) so that has tarnished my opinion of the city and also i hope he dies

I was kinda gagged to be walking around the streets at like 3am and it’s bustling and then you get on a bus and it’s packed at like 3am?? Like the bus services up north stop running at 11pm and i think everyone is scared to go out after dark for fear of getting murdered

I've lived in London my whole life so don't really see it in the same way tourists do but I don't think I'd wanna live anywhere else tbh.
I think I'm just used to it, but I get that it's not for everyone.

Love it because it's my home town. Very sad about it because of the sheer lack of east Londoners left there.

It stresses me out because of how busy it is. I try not to go often for that reason, and that getting around soon adds up

I visited the UK once and London was GREAT. There were loads to do and you can really have a great trip. Though yeah it's a bit disorderly and I prefer the countryside just a bit more?

Always something to do, great nights out, cheaper and more frequent transport and you will meet people from all over the world. You also might see a celebrity if you’re lucky

Most of the east and south should be knocked down and replaced by trees, but the north and west bits are nice.

LIVE there? Much better place to visit :joker: Better off living in NJ close enough to NYC and then visiting whenever you feel like it :smug:
But a lot of people living there wouldn't trade it. I do think there's a loyal love there for the city... but I couldn't take all the lights and noise and traffic and crowded-ness in general long-term :skull:

If I was ever traveling anywhere in Europe, London would be one of my top choices though
Love it because it's my home town. Very sad about it because of the sheer lack of east Londoners left there. The East Londoners are all in Essex. They were forced out of their home to make room for the rest of the World, because of tolerance or something.
If I was ever traveling anywhere in Europe, London would be one of my top choices though :love:There isn't much difference between the major cities in the West these days, London, Paris, New York Ect, Once you've seen on motropolis, you:ve seen them all.
If you want a true British experience, then you'll get it in different areas than London.

Meh you can't really define 'British' by one place anyway, I'd say if you travel here it's a good idea to go to all the 'different' places, like maybe London/Liverpool/Brighton/Birmingham

Think you’re stretching it a bit by saying zone 1’s the only expensive part of London.
