No. It's a commercial thing.
Love has no gender
Love has a man stressed out enough about how much money it's going to cost to keep the other half happy, it has made him doubt himself.
it's cute
It's as cute as a blue waffled vagina.

I think the presence is just as important as the presents. Literally a box of celebrations is only 3 quid in Morrisons

It's a bit like Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day; not strictly necessary, but a day to remember how important the respective parents, and partners, are.

I think it can be a hard day if you recently broke up with someone.
Women love a bit of romance, its a good day to show a woman or man that they are appreciated.
Don't you think it's all a bit forced..and thus not very loving.

It’s not mandatory that you celebrate valentines or give a gift you know. What you consider loving might not align with other people’s interpretation of it. Then again, you’ve shown anything BUT love
its a joke

In your case I can see why you are pro valentines day...it's a day where haters think that a poxy card and some mouldy chocolates that have been fingered to death on sainsbury aisles for 3 weeks can absolve them of all.sins.

It's a nice sentiment, but you shouldn't need a nominated day to show loved ones they're appreciated.

I’m not a hater at all and don’t know where you got that idea considering since Valentine’s Day promotes love :smug:
If not a box of chocolates then some flowers or a nice meal would do. No sin in that :hehe:

Somewhere like a fancy restaurant or a nice home cooked meal to save time. Candle lit dinner with violin playing in the background

Erm I’m sure they’re fine with just a dinner (indian) or even the thought that counts. I don’t know what women you’ve been with that make you think like that but I feel dead sorry for you. Not every woman acts like that though but that’s your perogative

How long I’ve been in a relationship? Quite a while :smug:
I do admit feeling the same as women do now at school though, if I didn't get a card that looked bigger than the side of my granny's shed

True, but if you do it because you want to and not because you have to then that’s the difference.
It’s special if you are in a loving relationship and the woman or man loves you regardless of what they get.

It's one of those days where, it should be very sweet and lovely, you get a card from your admirer, maybe a few flowers... but it's grown into a monster. Go into any supermarket and see the piles and piles of plastic tubs of sweets, boxes of chocolates piled high, lots of fake roses lots of tacky pink plastic... Was it always a gift buying opportunity? It's just a money making scheme now for supermarkets, restaurants and florists... And anyway, it's always Valentine's Day in my house.

My other half always says not to bother but societal pressures have made me feel guilty if I don’t conform to cultural norms and purchase chocolate in a heart shaped box

Yeah exactly. It's almost a protest now to not buy any of that tacky ****.

LOL.... you rebel.
I've told my fella not to presents because it's such a rip-off.
Also, what's with the flowers they're flogging this year? Morrisons are doing rainbow roses, white roses, dyed.... yuk... and florists are sticking fake diamond pins into the middle of roses and sprinkling them with glitter. Does the term "guiding the lily" mean nothing to these people?

Business is booming for them so they're loving it !
I wonder in this day and age if people could get done for harassment for sending a valentines card?
