She probably has someone who cleans her toilet, so I'm not surprised she does this. She wouldn't do it if she had to clean her toilet up after herself.

This is why you need to put your jam in the fridge after you open it

Does she do that after she runs through fields of wheat?

For reals though, I'm not much of a jam eater but I thought that was fine to do?

She buys it to be polite when Corbyn has a jumble sale in the Commons.

Not gone off jam that’s for sure

I am sure the mould you get on food like this is some sort of penicillin or it originates from that, can't remember where I heard it but sure it's a fact and scraping mould from jam is apparently ok.
"Jam is a preserve, but the reduced sugar in modern jams means they go mouldy more easily.
But if you scoop off all of the mould and a few centimetres beneath it, to ensure you’ve captured any spores that are impossible to see, then the jam should be safe to eat."

penicillin is derived from some types of mould, and there are moulds that are perfectly safe. Also as jam is almost entirely sugar, it iis safe to simply scrape mould off. You can do similar with cheese. Heck some cheeses are covered in mould by design

The older generation of my fam all do this too. Skim a layer off the top.

Soon as I see any mould it goes in the bin though.

It would be in the bin for me.

How long does she keep it from opening it I wonder.

No thanks.
I wouldn't touch it at all.
