Anyone been playing this? I know Dezzy has :p

It's daunting at first because I'm not really a fan of the whole Halo/COD/Titanfall style of play, and it's incredibly fast-paced compared to the likes of Fortnite, but after settling in it's become rather addictive and pretty impressive for a free game.

Don't get me wrong, I've a lot of time for Fortnite and don't think it'll be the death knell some think it'll be, but it's definitely a viable and exciting alternative to the giant

It's the category on Twitch that currently has 228,000 viewers; the most of any game. Fortnite has 164,000 :eyes:

I’m too slow for Fortnite so if you have to be faster then

Hmmm I generally prefer FPS multiplayer to 3rd person but then, on the other hand, I'm not actually a massive fan of Battle Royale. For me the best thing Fortnite ever did was introduce respawn modes :joker:.

I'd say you have to be faster in Fortnite than in Apex since if you can't build a mansion at a second's notice, you won't get far in Fortnite while with Apex, the game itself is fast but more intuitive than Fortnite.

I have to say I'm a little cynical as it sort of seems like EA have been like "Fortnight is popular! Overwatch is popular! Free to play with microtransactions YAS!" and then have sort of created a frankengame out of that thinking.

I'll give it a go but I'm highly suspicious that it's going to lack anything resembling a soul :joker:

That's exactly what Fortnite did in regards to PUBG though. Fortnite bombed on release and they jumped on the BR train as soon as PUBG picked up steam. Fortnite would have probably ceased it's service were it not for them nicking the BR concept from PUBG.

It's more the "it's EA" part that's bothering me.

I think you might have a coronary when you see the price of some of the things they are trying to flog in the Apex store  they sell "banners" (basically a nice picture frame for your character in the loading screen) for coins that you would basically have to spend £15.99 on (the number of coins is JUST above what you'd buy for £7.99, of course). Honestly disgusting, and hope they're not making too much off of it

I believe they're introducing a 'season pass' system like Fortnite soon. If they're gonna charge crazy prices for it they can get stuffed :oh:

It doesn't feel very 'EA' to me tbh. I wasn't even aware that it was published by EA until it was pointed out to me.

Yeah that's ridiculous but it's nothing I'd consider buying so I'm not fussed tbh. I imagine the prices on individual cosmetics may see a change before long.
