Martin Scorsese is back this year with another Mob flick, this time released to NETFLIX but will also have a limited theatre release. Incredible cast it seems and it's another collab with De Niro/Pesci and a first ever with Pacino involved! :cheer2:

The Irishman is an upcoming American biographical crime film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Steven Zaillian, based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. The film stars Robert De Niro as Frank Sheeran, a labor union leader and alleged hitman for the Bufalino crime family, and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa.

Just some of the cast:

Robert De Niro as Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran
Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa
Joe Pesci as Russell Bufalino
Anna Paquin as Peggy Sheeran
Bobby Cannavale as Felix "Skinny Razor" DiTullio
Sebastian Maniscalco as Joe "Crazy Joe" Gallo
Ray Romano as Bill Bufalino
Harvey Keitel as Angelo Bruno

That looks amazing. Got me thinking, has Pacino ever worked with Scorcese before? I dont think he has.

Yeah just checked. Its the first time they've worked together in about 50 years each in movies.

when it it out?

Sometime after September 27, that's when it premieres at the New York Film Festival. Oct/Nov probably.

Reportedly 3.5 hours long.

Are you sitting down, folks? The New York Film Festival has revealed that Martin Scorsese‘s The Irishman will boast a running time of… wait for it… 210 minutes. That is exactly 3-and-one-half-hours. You could literally watch Crank and Crank: High Voltage in that time frame, and still have roughly 10 minutes to spare.....

Not a cinema film then.

Can't stand being in a cinema for more than 2 hours. :worry:

Not sure it is going to be in many cinemas here, if any, because Netflix couldn't agree with US cinema chains to have more than a limited (so it qualifies for awards consideration) release there. The cinema chains wanted it kept off home-streaming for longer.

First reactions to this have been VERY promising. “Masterpiece” has been used and huge praise for Scorsese!

Still can't believe Pacino and Scorsese have never worked together before.

So many good films seem to be going to streaming platforms, and to think I used to view being "dumped on Netflix" as a modern version of straight to video!
