View Full Version : Emily: Who still respects Emily?

Thought I would do a poll to get some idea of how Emily will be treated following her ejection from BB. Obviously this was inspired by the thread comparing Emily to Jade Goody.

If she did say it, she was incredibly stupid. I still like her though

I had no respect for her anyway. What she said, however, was idiotic, not malicious.

That's what I kept saying, until I read further information.
At the end of the day BB took necessary action. I had gone off her anyway, so there's no question about me liking her now.

I had little respect for her when she claimed on launch night to be so intelligent. Then she tricked Ziggy and I started to like her. Now, I've no respect for her and the series is well shot of her.

I think for her to "lose respect" she needs to have it in the first place and for me Emily hasn't done anything which warrents any respect therefore she hasn't lost it as such.

No, it doesn't necessarily point to racism (although the term used by Emily is undeniably racist). However, it does point to ignorance, idiocy, stupidity or any other word along those lines. Emily fans, are you not disappointed that Emily failed to prove that she's some student genius?
GlitterEyes
07-06-2007, 10:54 AM
I think Emily will regret what she said and I don't believe from that one comment we can label her an outright racist. I think she said a silly thing and of course it was a mistake but up until that point no signs pointed to her being an actual racist. We cannot say if she is or isn't for certain only Emily herself will know. I think Emily herself will look back and feel very stupid for what she said having watched the whole Shilpa thing. But the point I think Emily should of been pulled up on was when she lost her cool and was about to throw a glass/cup at Ziggy....she never actually did it but there was for that split second intent and aggression.

To be honest, much as I dislike her, I think it would be harsh to give her a very hard time for being 'racist'. I suspect it wasn't the first racist comment she's ever made BUT we don't know that for sure and it's bad enough being chucked out of BB without having to suffer for it too much afterwards. I think she can redeem herself although if given the opportunity, I wouldn't try to make friends with her lol.

Racist terms do not make you racist, using them to cause offence does. She didn't use the word in question to cause offence, ergo, not racist.

That's not what I'm saying, what I'm saying is, if a racist term is used to cause offence, then the person who said it is racist, if it is not, they are not. The word is racist by definition, regardless of context, but that doesn't make the person who said it racist.

What a stupid little girl. It is, in my opinion, after all that went on in CBB, the worst thing that someone could say in the house.
She didnt mean it in a racist way, I can see that, but it still can be concidered a rasict term by many.
The fact that both Charley and Nikky were shocked that Emily said the ofending word speaks volumes to me and therefore I agree that she should have gone.
So in answer to this thread, how can I loose respect for a person who never had mine in the first place??? She didnt do anything to earn an ounce of it from me.

I don't think she is a racist, she didn't use it as a form of abuse. The reason Charley was shocked was only because of the CBB race row, not because she was offended.
Emily also mentioned that Charley had used the word previously, which screams double standards on BB's part to me.

Yes you've seen the transcript, but you haven't seen it coming out of her own mouth.
And when I hear it I'm not going to hate her instantly.
Omg are you serious?
Wow, Soph didnt expect that from you.
I think Emily is a stupid, pathetic, ignorant, two faced, racist, bitch who needs to grow up.
funny coming from someone who hated her for no reason in the first place.....

I disliked her because she was a bitch.
I thought Sophie had more sense than to be a Emily follower. I really did.
no that was your opinion She was never a "bitch" in that house....if you want to call her a bitch then you need to call that thing in your avatar one as well.....and add the words crybaby and child.
I don't like having childish conversations with people that just can't understand anything than their own view nor reply with something other than "she was a bitch"

Madoctor, is that the only way you can defend your precious Emily?
By insulting me and Chanelle.
You cant even stick up for Emily, because theres nothing to say.
Your only option is to insult the others

it does show double standards but if BB didn't do anything they would get accused of failing to act about it

actually you were the first to be insulting to Emily fans in general....
and yes I can stick up for Emily, I do think she made a mistake saying that word...but I don't believe she said it in the way some people are accusing her.
and yes Chanelle is Stupid, A Bitch a Child and also wants to look like Victoria Beckham.....I think that's enough not to like her as a person.....

yes but by getting rid of one person and not the other is a bad choice for them to have made.

I don't think she can be judged merely on a word which wasn't used in racial terms. I still respect her because she was a great housemate since she has entered the house, as well as being one of the most beautiful BB housemates to contest in the show.
If anything is double standards, it's the way she is being treated now by the very people who are denouncing racism, bullying and everything else!
Really is pathetic and hypocritical from some members.

I've lost respect for her because of her stupidity, not cos she's some nasty racist. She's just an idiot instead!
I agree! Stupid thing to say, but I bet the media make her life hell, which she doesn't deserve. She's a drama student, right? She won't be employed, she's going to have to do something else.
