TiBB Eurovision Song Contest 2019: Malmö 2019
Friday 31st May & Monday 3 June

Official Wikia: Click Here! (https://channel-tibb.fandom.com/wiki/TiBB_Eurovision_Song_Contest_2019)

It is almost that time to let the competition begin again! TiBB Eurovision is back for a record eleventh year in a row to coincide with the real-life contest, as 5 of those times were done around Christmas; and its the second year under my control (mostly) What songs will be read and heard? What will Rudolph and Augustine do this year? Who will be offended by Brexit jokes? Where are the constant translations into French? And when will we hear Mokka (and Nessie)'s awesome song about worms again? No idea.

- If you want to take part, reply to this thread with the country you want! But please, if you do reserve a country, I expect an entry.
- As usual, all applicants must produce their own song. This usually takes the form of a funny parody of an existing song, or (in recent contests) original songs.
- Lyrics, an artist name and song title are all that's required.
- However, the majority of past participants have opted to include wardrobe designs, stage designs, and even an audio/video recording.
- Members may only represent one country.
- Given recent hostile surroundings, I ask that no members who're banned are used as subject matter in your songs - this rule has been in place since 2014 but hey, wouldn't you know? It's still appropriate!
- Following the mix-up last June where a public poll was tampered with, we will be reverting to the classic format of "judges and the public vote by PM / in the judges' hidden Social Group".
- Entries must be submitted before 4pm on May 31. The event itself will take place that evening (it's a Friday, btw!) and the results will follow on the following Monday (June 3rd, in case it's unclear).

You have just about 10 and a half weeks to create your entries (long story short: the contest is in May)... please make them as entertaining as possible, and please don't feel afraid to take part The more entries, the more fun it is to run. Songs can be about anything you like, and whilst we are fairly liberal with what is deemed "in good taste" obviously a song containing 30 different death threats may well find itself lost in my inbox and doomed never to enter

The winner of this glorious festivity shall also receive a supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics this lovely little award, already shared by the amazing TiBB legends of Dezzy, Niamh, PJ, and Shaun! http://cdn.thisisbigbrother.com/medals/eurovision.gif - so if that isn't motivation to bring your A game, I don't know what is.

My song is finished, but just because I've done my song doesn't mean that the rest of you have to rush to get songs finished. We've only got about 2 months until TiBB Eurovision 2019 happens.

Josiah.

We've got about a month to go, but I've already been considering options as to how to continue TiBB Eurovision (even with a potential spiritual successor) since at this point; I'm the winner by default.

Shaun, please check your messages from me on Skype! ;)

I'm sad to say that this may actually end up being the last TiBB Eurovision ever (by unpopular demand).

However, I have been creating a "spiritual successor" to TiBB Eurovision; and it'll work similarly to Sanremo (Italy's music festival/partial ESC national selection). I'll have more details on it once we get to the time of Eurovision 2019 next month.

Ladies and gents, I have an announcement. This is the final TiBB Eurovision Song Contest. Due to my personal schedule with university work over the next few months and there literally being no way that I'm receiving songs over the next few weeks, I have moved the final and voting results to today's date (26 April). So, for the final time... see you at 8.00pm BST.

So, in a change from past editions; everyone wins, due to there only being 2 songs.

Artist: Neah Loren
Song: Silent Fire
Music & Lyrics: Neah Loren, Shaina Lambert, Josiah Stuart
In the silent fire, all I hear is the whispers of men from long ago.

Os que foram antes de mim. A chuva forte limpando o medo eu só ouço o fogo silencioso.

While the brisk rains clean the fear, I only hear the silent fire.

Standing at the cliffs above the lands, I hear the cries of fear and pain. Inside of me, the silent fire burns for the joy of life. Recordar o passado, siga em meio a tempestade, e ouvir o silêncio de fogo.

Hear my cries, for I am alone and scared. I hear you call, and you know I’m afraid, but your comfort reignites the silent fire.

When I can’t bear the weight of the unknown, you reignite the silent fire.

Quando eu não posso suportar o peso do desconhecido, você reacender o silêncio de fogo.

While the storm rages on, I will hear the silent fire.

In the silent fire, all I hear are the whispers of men from long ago and the here and now.

I'll be honest in that I lost a lot of personal motivation in running this when I allowed Josiah to take the reins and sort of manage the whole thing with me. Part of what I found enjoyable about this game was being able to do it at my own leisure, without much need for creative design and video editing skills, and it being a sort-of off-the-cuff event where everyone tried to either make us laugh, create something interesting or actually record a song. I think the spirit of the event was always comedy, but I definitely wanted to allow other paths into the game. As that side got more prominent it became a lot harder to judge because you're using the same criteria on two completely different fields; the idea of "judging on effort" is pretty consistent but how do you say a genius parody is better than someone coming up with their own song?

So - all of this coupled with my inability to commit as much time for the past few years (I remember I was called away for over a fortnight before Christmas, and when I accept work like that my first thought, funnily enough, isn't "...but what about TiBB Eurovision?") has left this very much a bit of an afterthought on here for me.

I do think games in general have deteriorated but I suppose that's partially down to my lack of awareness of the chat threads nowadays and I could just be snottishly writing them all off because I'm not in the cool crowd any more :p but I do think members are happy to just chat endlessly in Big Brother-style games and do little else. I know that in itself takes effort, and commitment, and the people running games now presumably enjoy the same workload I used to with word-files, folders of images saved to your laptops, vote counts, task ideas, and practice-posts all over the place  but the games I ran always required something creative or different to the usual old "post 500 times between X and Y" format (although I definitely used that from time to time if I felt lazy :ninja2:)

This is all a very long-winded way of saying that game-management for me is something I haven't felt in a long time and maybe it'll return one day, maybe it won't. But I definitely began to feel alienated by this game in particular and the direction it took. And I don't in any way mean that as a sign of disrespect to Josiah because he's poured a lot of heart into this for years now. I just think we poured our hearts into different ideas of the same thing.

I think if I ever get around to designing a game again it'd be something I've tried and tested before, solo. I just don't know if the forum is really interested in...games that aren't chat threads.

Josiah aired the show over a month early and it seems like TiBB Eurovision is cancelled :(

which is a shame, I thought of a good song the other day
