So best all round if those trips for the wealthy to shoot animals were rearranged !
Come shoot a poacher and if you suceed we will shrink the head and turn it into a fanny pack cum sporran, yes you can wear your kill and no one will care !
A dead poacher hooray.:joker:

I tried for a brief second to feel some sadness for him.
However I couldn't.
I agree with all the comments above.
He got what he deserved.

What more do we need to know than a man who was illegally poaching possibly endangered animals and killing them out of greed got some karma?
Please enlighten us all as to what more we need to be aware of?

I get what you are saying but I have difficulty having empathy for humans who attack animals whatever their personal circumstances

I haven't read the article so that would probably answer it for me
BUT were there any eyewitnesses to this. To me it seems far fetched that he was trampled by elephants and then eaten by lions...like who was there to witness it and why didn't they get eaten?

No one knows the back story, and no one cares. "illegal rhino poacher" is all I needed to see for me to be quite happy he met this rather ironic end. I hope the same happens to all illegal poachers.

His fellow poachers saw him being trampled and it enabled them to get away, though why they didn't shoot the elephant is odd, I suppose they paniced thinking there might be more raging elephants, I guess the eaten by lions is easy enough to verify

..I’d like to think this would deter some poachers/hunters but sadly in my heart I don’t think it will...it’s very, very sad for his daughters...not only his death but that some will rejoice it...it is what it is...and human nature that some will feel no sorrow for his death because of his cruel and unnecessary life choices...

I just hope that none of the animals involved get hunted in revenge, like when that Polar bear was killed for eating that kid...
Obviously that was actually a tragedy, because it was a school trip and not a hunting exhibition, and I hope the parents were able to sue, but it's not the bear's fault someone was stupid enough to camp in its territory.

Yeah I reckon it will make it more exciting to a poacher the risk that animals might fight back

He was after Rhino horn, illegally BOTS this so called human put his own life at risk by doing that and no doubt had he killed the rhino he would have been rejoicing, we have lots of animals that have been killed because of us, so it's karma that an animal got there first,no sympathy from me I'm afraid, He had a choice the rhino didn't. Not all humans are above animals, many animals are better.

I don't know where religion comes into this? this isn't a a human taking another humans life? this is an animal protecting its territory, pretty sure he would have been dead long before the lions got to him

Do you believe in illegal poaching?
Do you believe in illegal poaching?
i believe in the sanctity of human life. We can all sit in judgement here thousands of miles away from the events, ignorant to the reasons poaching exists.
It's one thing to to say the guy got what he perhaps deserved for the risks he took, its another to celebrate his death, which is pretty disgusting, and something that many on this very thread are doing.

So we should celebrate human life over an animals life especially when the human is in the wrong?

I kind of agree with BOTS, it's easy to sit in our warm homes with no REAL money worries (as in food and shelter) and judge people who have grown up living on less for a month than we spend in a day, and say "disgusting!" when they chase an animal that is worth more money than they could ever hope to make in their entire life by legitimate means. And also, who haven't come through a full and detailed education system to even really comprehend what "endangered species" even means.
It's not so much that I'd rather the animal was killed; there are AMPLE warnings about wildlife in Africa and how dangerous it is to enter certain areas on foot / without professional guidance / especially at night so anyone doing it knows that they're risking their life, and it's still a choice they made, so the outcome is what it is. But judging someone and preaching about "animal life being just as important as human life" (whilst chomping on a bacon sandwich), for shooting a rhino when it could literally change their entire life, is a bit much.

Dead right.
Many animals are better.
I'm not hard hearted by any means however I repeat again, in my view he got what he deserved.

Yeah agree with this and with BOTS aswell.
I'm not saying I have much sympathy for the guy and he knew the risks and the animals were protecting themselves but I do think the over celebrating his death is a bit much though............and I'm a vegetarian :idc:

I am not a Christian, I don't have to love everyone, even if they're a disgusting scumbag. And this man was a scumbag. And there are so many worthy people dying every day from the want of medicine or food, or just clean water. I will feel sympathy/empathy whatever you require for them. Illegal poachers can have a good long, painful death for me.

This is a weird one.
I don’t agree with Trophy hunting, but as it’s legal in South Africa I can see why some of the poorest people could be tempted to kill a rhino or elephant for their horns/tusks.
I don’t condone it in any way, but I can see why they would consider it.

this exactly
they just do it for the thrill and attention, it's sickening how evil and cruel some people can be towards animals just for fame and fortune
