I really like it but it does go through a crap phase in the middle, then picks up again. Actually my son started watching TWD recently and gave up on it but started Fear The Walking Dead instead, he way prefers that. It's really good too

This season has been really really good, did you give up or have you watched it (S9)?

I agree, season 9 has been one of the best seasons.
Daniel it's worth it but there are a few dud seasons along the way.

It's amazing! Especially the first few seasons. Then it goes a bit meh but it's still good. Seasons 7 and 8 I didn't enjoy very much. But the most recent season 9 has been my favourite season. Yes its worth watching

Yeah I loved fear of the walking dead season 1 they aired or on e4 but no sign of any more series planned to be shown. Odd

It has it's moments, but watch out for seasons 6-8 as they're torture with all of the OTT Negan stuff/build-up in 6.
The show was also better before it became community based imo as it has taken away most of the Horror undertones of the programme and there wasn't a lot of it to begin with.
The Governor and Alpha are strong characters though, although you have to wait for season 9 for Alpha.

I’m tempted to watch because of the two big deaths that have happened over the last season and a half but Mischonne is leaving next season too and I’m not really a Daryl fan so I don’t think I’d enjoy it as much if he was the leave

You should atleast watch the last episode of S8 and then all S9, I almost gave up as well over the never ending Negan saga

I stopped watching it during series 6 or 7 I think because it became too boring and complicated - FTWD is better but I stopped watching that too

Yeah. 7 and 8 are the only subpar seasons but they're worth powering through for how good season 9 is.

Honestly GOOD character development went out of the window somewhere around the end of S4 - only to make a dramatic return in S9. A bizarre comeback story. There are characters who got more development in S9 than they had for 5 years (I'm looking at you Daryl) and characters that have now been developed having had close to ZERO development since they joined the show (Ezekiel...).
It has a new showrunner and it goes to show what a difference it can make. Another example of this is Morgan becoming a 10x better character in half a season of Fear The Walking Dead than he did in his entire time as a full time TWD cast member . But FTWD has always had stronger characters. Except bloody Chris and (imo) Travis
But thankfully they solved that little problem :hehe:
But yeah... honestly, if FTWD S4 and TWD S9 are anything to go by then the shows are on a great trajectory currently. But the first season and a half of FTWD and seasons 6-8 of TWD might be hard to get through. I actually quit Fear for years (early S2) and picked it up & binged right up to the end of S4 and very glad I did because S4 itself is a great season of telly .
What show doesn't have bad seasons though? Even Game Of Thrones has the - in my opinion - borderline embarrassing S5.
Daniel.

I am intrigued how this show's premise has been spun out for so long.
But then the longer it runs, the harder it is to catch up.

It's a really good show I just got bored of it (stopped after the first half of season 7)
Although I think it's a show that people get tired of pretty easily after a while - just because I feel like the theme could get tiresome and repetitive. I say this because someone told me about the show and then I was the one to get all my friends into it but all except for one of my friends have given up on the show by now (pretty much all before I gave up on it for that matter). I binged it around the time S3-S4 was airing and everyone else did the same. After that it kinda slowly declined and the interest died down for everyone I know that liked the show (again, besides one).
He did tell me S9 is getting good though so since others are saying that in here as well then maybe it's made a turn for the best? I'm not far behind to the point where I can't realistically catch back up tbh.
Marsh.

A lot of people seem to drop away, is the show repetitive?

Yup pretty much this I think
And I can't even really blame the producers either... like it's a show about a zombie apocalypse that has been around for 9 seasons now. You can only go so many ways with it :joker:

Honestly, I'd recommend for anyone to watch up until season 4 though. It's still a great show that I LOVED at one point :clap1: I think the first 2-3 seasons were the best off the top of my head as well so you can't go wrong with having a 4-season TWD watch :fan:

In short, it's not really about "surviving against zombies" any more, they're pretty well adapted to "life with zombies" and how to deal with them as an everyday risk and the storylines are other things set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop.
Recently it's actually taken on a sort of "frontiersy" vibe (both shows) right down to the backing soundtrack but it sort of works .
But yeah it's become a character-based show which is why S6 - 8 had so many problems. Scott Gimple (TWD showrunner) wasn't doing any meaningful character development. He was replaced by Angela Kang and the show transformed overnight.

Now I liked them in the Prison personally as I liked the more Horror feel the Prison had as you didn't know if anyone or anything was in there with the group, also I liked the psychological element of characters like Rick being more unhinged in the Prison.
That's the one great thing with a show like TWD though, and that's we all have taken something different from the programme which not many shows are capable of doing that nowadays.
