Yeah, I mean he's just not a great character. And it's no surprise to me he's been nominated in 3/5 rounds so far, in fact it's more shocking it took this long for him to go. Sam just never really had an arc that was too appealing to me and as a result he just suffered as a character. I mean the whole SamxDakotazoid thing ... tragic. And the fact they picked SAM over LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE for All Stars shm

She's an inconsistent, hypocritical, cliché plot device who's always written as either a helpless damsel in distress or some sort of godlike athlete, both cases being unrealistic and annoying. She also relies on Mike, one of the most malicious and judgmental characters, and in AS she's so gullible to the obvious and believes anything he says even though he's clearly trying to kill her. She's an okay character without him, but considering how often she is around him, she's insufferable, as is their relationship.

Zoey

I won't lie, I've warmed to Zoey recently, but she certainly doesn't deserve to go any further than this, in my opinion.
I'll start with why I like Zoey. Her interactions with everyone bar M*chael were cute. I'm not too fond of the Cameron friendship, but Gwen and Zoey were a cute friendship, and we got to see Zoey be a good friend, calming Gwen out of a panic attack. I also liked her chats with Duncan, it wasn't much and it centred mostly around M*chael but I think there was something there they could've utilised with how good and 'sweet' Zoey is and how Duncan is struggling with the fact he's perceived as nice. Just an idea.

But besides that? There's not much to like about her, in my opinion. And I won't lie, a lot of her problems stem from M*chael.

Before I detail M*chael, I'll start with a detail I noticed - Zoey says she "loves" 'oddballs' when Michael tells Zoey about his disorder. What's wrong with that? The fact she calls Dawn, who is a bit out of the ordinary yes, 'creepy', and also turns away Dakota's friendship because it's 'hazardous' to her health (and while I can understand what she meant with how hard Dakota hugged her, it's a tad ridiculous she couldn't have just spoke to Dakota and said "be careful when hugging me" instead of getting rid of one of the only friends she had in her life).

I don't want to detail much about her interactions with M*chael so I'll try and keep this light:
She felt entitled to him and for what reason? Yeah Mike showed some level of interest but no commitment, and got offended when Vito and Anne Maria made out. Is she allowed to be hurt? Absolutely, but the fact she told Anne Maria to 'lay off' him is a bit weird because Zoey and Mike weren't even dating.

Her character became heavily based around him. In fact, she became 'commando Zoey' in response to his 'necklace' breaking. How did she gain such athletic ability out of anger? I have no idea, but it's bull****. She suddenly had all this strength and skill and it carried through to All-Stars. It made no sense to me and felt like a lazy way to develop her.

Because in my opinion, she had little to no development. Ironically, I think I prefer her All-Stars appearance because she had a good friendship with Gwen and we got to see how okay she was without Mike. But then I also despise her appearance because of M*chael.

Duncan warned her of Mal. Izzy questioned who Mal was and Zoey heard, without Izzy being told about him. Alejandro called 'Mike' Mal. And did she listen to them? No, not until the penultimate episode when she found a video hidden by Alejandro of Mal's actions. Why did Zoey not truly listen and follow up on the words of three people who had never spoken to each other about 'Mal' yet all knew him? I will never know, but it made her unlikeable to me. She just came off as stupid.

Let's not forget how she risked her life to try and get 'Mike' to help her. Or how her first word in All-Stars was "Mike". Her character was too heavily based around M*chael, and in my opinion, a character isn't good if their story and personality depends too much on one person, and it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of M*chael.

It's a shame Zoey didn't live up to her stereotype. She could've been a cool, lonely, indie chick who was trying to find her feet and place in a relatively large group of people, feeling out of place while also trying to make friends. Maybe she could've been annoying, getting really excited talking about a local band she loves to a love interest, and said love interest validates her interests and takes an interest in her. Maybe Zoey could've realised she already was a great friend (see: calming Gwen after her anxiety attack) and didn't need to change, and she was fine with how quirky she was. I wouldn't have minded if it was obnoxious, in fact, I'd prefer it if it was. I'd rather Zoey have been annoying on her own merit than annoying because of her association with M*chael.

So yeah, I found Zoey was inconsistent in abilities, personality, and interactions. Outside of M*chael, she was nice! She was a good friend. But sadly an episode or two of her being friends with Gwen and chatting with Duncan cannot atone for how unbearable I found her for 2 seasons straight.

I think the LARPers got way too much hate! Back in summer of 2015 when RR's pilot leaked, we were already confirmed that Owen, Noah and Geoff would return, and people were excited to see who else would come back. And to everyone's shock, rather than wrapping up the storylines of dozens of characters, they brought back Leonard :joker::joker::joker: x100. But with him was Tammy, and I thought they were hilarious together in the short time they were around, and really underappreciated for being essential human shields to be out first to let the other 17 teams develop into stronger personalities. For once, there was elimination fodders that were over the top enough to still leave a minor impact. Since this is Tammy, even though she didn't speak much, she had several funny small moments to complement Leonard; responding to being out first with 'TIME! REVERSAL SPELL!' or obsessing over violently flinging confetti at the Goths, Adversity Twins and even her own partner are examples :laugh: .

But the team is still not meant to be that impressive to watch, and why I think this is the right time Tammy goes.

And as a side note, anyone notice how rude Don was to them? He started lecturing them on how to race properly after they had already lost, and it's a general problem with him where he has favoritism of teams. The cruel way he spoke about the Vegans and the numerous insults he hurled at the Ice Dancers are just a few examples. People always call Chris biased, but Don's no angel! Anyway Don rant over because I didn't really have much to say on Tammy.

Brody was.. nice. He was harmless yet super irrelevant, and completely unmemorable, which is why it's strange to think he actually WON Ridonculous Race. He was partnered with Geoff, who I'm not the biggest fan of, but I was surprised with how much I liked Brody (which still wasn't a lot but still.) He wouldn't be my choice to cut here, but considering Mont's tragic noms, he has to go. Bye.

It hurt to cut Leonard this early, because Leonard is the perfect example of comic relief done right. He didn't last long in either series he was in, he provided laughs an entertainment in all of his episodes, and idk he was just a good character. Unusual too, he had his unique elements like the wizard costume and the LARPing. He was harmless really.

Tyler's pretty funny and I actually don't mind him but he's just never been a strong character. He's really only known for being our Lindsay's boyfriend, and even though they were cute, their relationship lacks substance. I kind of that thought when he'd be bought back for World Tour the writers would've done SOMETHING with him as he's not incapable of having a personality but he was literally just the same as in Island (with just more funny moments since he lasted longer). A lukewarm character!

Such a relief to be getting this one over with. Being honest, I've been trying to come up with ways to get Dakota out for a while now. In my first noms I thought I could pull it off in the 5 popular vs 5 actually deserving to be out format I had, but not only did that backfire anyway but I'm pretty sure Dakota would've still been saved there. Then I was going to put her up in that save and replace but then I noticed ZOEY was still somehow in and had to save Carrie, and now I'm stuck cutting Dakota myself after not even having to nominate her :laugh: .

It's a tragic case with Dakota because, while I was never as crazy about her as others were, she was nonetheless a pretty solid character as a human. Whiny, spoiled, self-entitled, but still vulnerable, lonely, and desperate for fame. I can see why so many said she was full of potential. But the episode in which she gets mutated is not only one of the worst of all time simply because of that happening, but it also completely ruined her character and suddenly she sucks! People always harp against the sudden mutations of Ezekiel or Dave's personality, but I always see Dakota get a free pass for some reason just because she was an okay character beforehand. But at least in the prior cases I mentioned, Ezekiel and Dave went on to serve really important functions in several episodes. Dakota got mutated as some sort of karma she never deserved in the first place, and really I'm only cutting her for how poor the writing of the whole thing is. It makes her a painfully below average character, and being feral wasn't funny when it happened to Ezekiel, and I'd argue it was even less funny when it happened to Dakota. Even as a human, I backtracked on whether she really was enjoyable at that point either, considering all of what seemed like development to her ultimately culminated in this hideous abomination that nobody asked for. And if we're still disregarding the whole Dakotazoid transformation, I don't like her relationship with Sam either. It gives the implication in the end that her becoming a hideous beast means that he finally feels comfortable going out with her??? :conf::conf::conf: That's so superficial, and with how short RoTI is, they only have Dakota end up liking him because he helps her with a few errands or listens to her when no one else would. Having said that, why not exploit that aspect of her personality? Don't villify her as someone deserving of becoming a mutant!

Sometimes I'm inclined to think Dakota is actually the most overrated character EVER, even more than the likes of Noah or Dawn, because she really was treated as one of the best of her season in spite of her being involved in one of the worst writing decisions of the show, which is why it gives me great satisfaction to be getting rid of her.

Kind of a king? Him and his partner were both pretty funny throughout Ridonculous Race despite not being apart of any of the main storylines. The Rockers not only were mostly used as a comic relief throughout the season, but they managed to do it without being super annoying. They had an interesting dynamic with each other and ended up being a team that I didn't think I was going to like before watching!

And honestly, The Rockers should've ended up becomimg the runners up/winners rather than the Surfers as they were a better "bro" team in my opinion. (and weren't already previously eliminated)

Beth is literally one of my least favourite characters of the whole franchise and someone I've been trying to get out for rounds. In TDI, she was Heather's bitch, and let Heather treat her horribly. However, she stopped liking Heather when she asked her to go get a bag of chips?? It made no sense, and Beth went out a few eps later after cursing the island like the stupid **** she is. And then in TDA, people started liking her because she got her braces off? And then all of a sudden she was Lindsay's best friend and Lindsay outshined every ep they were on. And THEN, they made her WIN TDA over Lindsay (who was planned to win, before they made her vote herself out and completely undo all the amazing progress and development they'd made on Lindsay during this season) and WHO. CARES. ABOUT. BETH. NO ONE! Oh and don't forget the time she ate everyone's cookies. A mean, nasty gal deep down. Ugly too, no wonder they thought ha boyfriend was fake.

For someone who's supposedly the main protagonist of his season, Shawn feels very unmemorable to me. I think it's because he's meant to be a crazy guy with a storyline, but he's ultimately overshadowed by so many of the other crazy people in the season when they're on screen, aka... all thirteen of them :/ . He had his moments, but the zombie gag never really appealed to me and while it was never as repetitive as the gags of Rodney or Topher, it still left little impact on me. The only times it was really cool was when he used it to save Jasmine's life or when he destroyed the Chris robots. And him showering Dave with snot made me suffocate with laughter when PI was first airing. I even liked his relationship with Jasmine sometimes. But in spite of him having funny moments and a unique development from most other characters, he's just never hit for me no matter how many times I've watched Pahkitew. And this is a tangent, but it always felt like the season was building up to Shawn FINALLY getting over his paranoia and realizing he's not in a zombie apocalypse. But rather than even coming close to that, he goes from being afraid of zombies to... actively trying to destroy them. It just made the whole plot of Jasmine being mad at him for thinking she's a zombie kind of diminish in what it was supposed to do. I also simply like him less than all the other nominees (apart from Gwen who needs to really get out of this rankdown already!). Not a bad character, but this is around where I'd rank him if the whole thing was my own ranking.

DJ
DJ is another character I struggled to connect with, although I admit he gets better upon rewatches. There was just something about him that I couldn't root for in a character, and honestly I don't remember much about him which is tragic considering how long he spent in each of the 3 series.

I felt the whole arc of him working with Chef just a bit dull, it didn't really interest me and it wasn't an arc I had any interest in keeping up with.

Brick:

Not a bad character, but an underused one, certainly.
I think one of the few reasons I dislike Brick is because his some of his 'quirks' grate on me - not because of him, but because of what they are. "Haha Brick peed himself!!!" being one of the few which are like, "I don't get how it's funny", Like I think him being afraid of the dark emphasised his softer side well enough, and is a more rational, releatable fear/quirk. Also the whole "fashion school here I come!!" being used as a punchline was a bit :suspect:. I dunno, I'm not really on Total Drama's wavelength on a comedy level generally, and it's not something that detracts from Brick's character, but it does mean I enjoy him less than others who find that humour funny.

For some reason, I'm never too fond of the 'pain magnets', which Brick certainly was. Maybe that level of humour doesn't entertain me (although I do laugh when Izzy yells "OWEN I'M COMING!!!!" and jumps off a cliff and goes through every single injury he did on his way down :laugh: but anyway).

Sadly, I found him most enjoyable in his final episode competing. He was respectful and easily did one of the most, if not the most, heroic acts in TD hisitory by saving his old teammates. My heart broke for Brick, because he was a lovely guy, and while I don't blame Lightning and Jo for voting him off (since they had no reason to vote each other off, really), I do wish we got an episode or two more of him. Or, better yet, All Stars.

Brick is the definition of a hero in my honest opinion. Look at the Heroic Hamsters. Yeah the majority of them are good people but were any of them 'heroic'? Maybe not literally (although Sam's position as a hero or villain is questionable - nay, his position as an All Star is questionable) but Brick definitely is. He had more interactions established with the ROTI cast than Sam (he looked out a bit for Cameron while they were on the same team; Jo/Lightning's conflict with him; Mike and Zoey had a lot of respect for Brick. Scott was the only person who didn't truly have any level of connection with Brick, but Scott did gun to get him out in 4x05 so there's that. Sam on the other hand? Didn't interact with Mike, Zoey, Cameron, or Jo, and didn't even compensate by interacting much with the OG cast. A wasted character in All Stars). Brick definitely should've been in over Sam and I will not be challenged on this.

I think a problem with Brick that truly can't be helped is that it felt like his athletic ability took priority over his army cadet role, which would be fine, if we didn't already have Jo and Lightning. It's not his fault, but it makes him hard to stand out when practically a quarter of the cast have their role as jocks/athletes. And Jo and Lightning had more conflict and arguably more drama and entertainment than Brick, AND both went further than Brick (I do prefer Brick to Lightning, but I prefer Jo to Brick).

So I've sang praises for Brick, so why have I cut him? Simply because he was up against people I either like (Bridgette, Max, Shawn, Katie) or people that deserve to go further IMO (Sky and Junior - I'm also not a fan of Geoff but he's certainly more versatile than Brick). And when you see where he's been placed, it's sorta understandable? For a character that's only appeared in eight episodes and doesn't truly have much going for him (IMO), 49 out of 84 seems respectful. Does he deserve to be out over some of the other characters still in? I think we could all agree no (but have a massive debate as to who those people are :laugh:) but such is the nature of this game.

47 - Trent (Island, Action)

Trent went from being the typical, nice guy that falls for the outcast girl to an obsessive crazed lover all in the span of two seasons :skull: Normally I'd find such a drastic change a scream but his character was completed derailed, (along with many others in TDA) and it's clear that the writers only did this to "break up the main couple" for shock value but it ended up being more embarrassing rather than amusing. Thankfully, while he was an early boot in Action, he was still okay in Island, having some pretty underrated scenes with Lindsay, such as getting stuck in the quicksand together and also the trust challenge which is probably my favorite Trent scene :laugh:

All in all Trent, (along with Bridgette & Geoff), is one of the first victims to the writers ****ing up a character in their 2nd or later seasons, a trend that many characters who appear in multiple seasons soon suffer from.

Figures that I've had to cut both of PI's Final Two. Anyway, Sky, like Shawn, is someone who I SORT OF like, in fact considerably more than i do Shawn, but she sadly pales in comparison to all the other nominees. And even though she's pretty by-the-book in personality, still a good, even great character in my eyes.

She's most well-known for the will-they/won't they/absolutely never should they pairing with Dave, which got a lot of backlash, but I can't really gather why. Yes, Sky takes advantage of Dave and isn't honest with him, and it does cause him to act way too over-the-top, but I found all of that really entertaining, and livened up an already fairly lively season. Sky is manipulative, somewhat selfish, and can get critically competitive, but that doesn't make her a BAD person. Here was a protagonist with lots of goals and visions to empathize with, but for the first time in the show, was stomping on others in her way to get there. That makes for a great character. Now granted I don't think Sky was a GREAT character. Up until Dave is out, she does sort of rely on him to make a presence, and even after he's out, she relies on Sugar, but both of those interactions are among my favorites in the show and Sky worked as a great straight-man to the two craziest members of the cast. When I rewatch PI, the unpredictability of Sky being slightly too cutthroat kind of loses its edge and she ends up looking like a pretty basic character, but she's simple enough to be worth tolerating and most of the time enjoying. But when a noms pool has Duncan and Geoff and Sugar and Stephanie and Carrie and Devin and Dwayne to choose from, it's suddenly easier for me to cut her.

I've nommed Geoff during both of my rounds, yet he's been saved for some reason -glares @ Morgan/Epic- and I don't know why. I didn't dislike him in TDI, he was just so basic and the ~PARTY BOY~ character just isn't my type of character. And then he got with Bridgette. I actually really like them together, and there's no denying that they are the IT couple of Total Drama, having been together since TDI. I actually think sending them out early in TDA was a great idea, and they excelled hosting Aftermath. That's why I think it was a silly idea sending Bridgette into TDWT but then I guess they needed some story. Bridgette's shtick of 'I have a boyfriend!' became tiring quick, despite kissing Alejandro and then profusely apologizing to Geoff about it and idk it was just so BORING. And then he came back for RR for some reason, not even with Bridgette so idk what the thought was behind that and I always forget he was even there even though he won made it to the finals. Idk he should've been cut ages ago so bye.

Okay so I don't necessarily dislike Carrie (or Devin) but I just really didn't want them in the winning or even in the finals . After the lukewarm finals of All Stars & Pahkitew, the two seasons prior to Ridonculous Race, I was just over having the "nice and normal" characters such as The Best Friends make it that far. Even though their romance storyline was more interesting to watch than the likes of Mike x Zoey, I still just never cared for them (probably since I'm not crazy about showmances anyways). She's cute, but not cute enough for me to care.

I remember getting a bit upset in their elimination episode because I thought they were going to make it through and rob our Sisters but then getting happy again when they had to quit >:)

AND the nerve of her picking the Surfers of all people to come back after they had just been eliminated :rolleyes:

Figures that I've had to cut both of PI's Final Two. Anyway, Sky, like Shawn, is someone who I SORT OF like, in fact considerably more than i do Shawn, but she sadly pales in comparison to all the other nominees. And even though she's pretty by-the-book in personality, still a good, even great character in my eyes.

She's most well-known for the will-they/won't they/absolutely never should they pairing with Dave, which got a lot of backlash, but I can't really gather why. Yes, Sky takes advantage of Dave and isn't honest with him, and it does cause him to act way too over-the-top, but I found all of that really entertaining, and livened up an already fairly lively season. Sky is manipulative, somewhat selfish, and can get critically competitive, but that doesn't make her a BAD person. Here was a protagonist with lots of goals and visions to empathize with, but for the first time in the show, was stomping on others in her way to get there. That makes for a great character. Now granted I don't think Sky was a GREAT character. Up until Dave is out, she does sort of rely on him to make a presence, and even after he's out, she relies on Sugar, but both of those interactions are among my favorites in the show and Sky worked as a great straight-man to the two craziest members of the cast. When I rewatch PI, the unpredictability of Sky being slightly too cutthroat kind of loses its edge and she ends up looking like a pretty basic character, but she's simple enough to be worth tolerating and most of the time enjoying. But when a noms pool has Duncan and Geoff and Sugar and Stephanie and Carrie and Devin and Dwayne to choose from, it's suddenly easier for me to cut her.

Just because the show originates in Canada doesn't mean that's who the winners are. Most, if not all of those endings had the voting system, apart from the Cadets I think since that one is so obviously the real one.

I even remember Canada was really late airing PI (much like it did for most of the seasons before; another reason not to just judge on Canada), and when the voting for that happened there was a huge campaign by the Total Drama Wiki to vote for Sky just so Canada would FINALLY get a female winner eazdfe\afea

Fevin- were getting to t’stage in this rankdown where there’s no room for irrelevant characters and it’s starting to just be the bigger names so he had to go! he was just an inoffensive & nice character but brought nothing I found exciting and intrigued to see in the next episode, it was good to see a friendship with a female friend and that his girlfriend wasn’t jealous so that was nice I suppose but the typical will they/won’t they thing gets boring in total drama like is that all you can say can you come up with something else? the fact he nearly doubled leshawna’s placing in this rankdown I-, but a genuine & nice character overall!

Basically an animated parody based on the show Survivor but with teenagers instead. Teams instead of tribes, more comedy than Survivor to fit with an animated comedy for adolescents, less tense than Survivor and more wacky, although also still has drama, romance and tension. Has a spin off season that's an animated parody of The Amazing Race.

Laurie was pretty irrelevant as a character, I personally don't think she added much if value to the series and the team were obvious first boots. Dawn had a very small number of lines and relevance, and is really not exciting to watch, being just an enigma for 5 episodes in a 13 episode season doesn't really do anything for me, I actually liked Blaineley but she was a contestant for a very short time and becoming one was ultimately pointless, the Bloggers did NOTHING apart from their first and last episode where they were actually good, and Samey was pretty bland and was a forced sympathy character where they made it so that's the only reason you should like her, without ever giving her a likeable or identifiable personality.

None of them are 'bad' characters but it's near the end and they're so unimportant and overhyped in the grand scheme of things

topher was actually quite an interesting character, his main storyline was around chris (even his name joins up with chris to make christopher) but it turned from an obsession to wanting to steal chris’s job and that was fun to watch for a while to see if he would succeed but obviously he didn’t and also he wasn’t really a nice person and was quite rude and I’m pretty sure he had no friends. but he just wasn’t as interesting as a character as the rest nominated so he had to go!
