A New Rule has been brought in
So even I must now respect that,

Why not just put them in the swear filter, that way there’s no grey area and people can be infracted for not knowing certain words aren’t allowed to be used?

If that word is Feck, it isnt actually related to the word ****, so you can still use it. Weird anyway that admin care about swearing on a forum generally used by adults.

Although tbh I don’t actually see the issue with swearing, provided it’s not being nasty about another forum member

I mean let’s be honest this rule has literally only JUST been enforced because somebody said it in the chat thread last night
It’s dumb

There’s been multiple infractions for people using that word apparently, so it seems as if it isn’t allowed, although undoubtedly we will only find out what we’re not allowed to say when it’s too late.

https://www.sciencealert.com/swearing-is-a-sign-of-more-intelligence-not-less-say-scientists
The use of obscene or taboo language - or swearing, as it’s more commonly known - is often seen as a sign that the speaker lacks vocabulary, cannot express themselves in a less offensive way, or even lacks intelligence.
Studies have shown, however, that swearing may in fact display a more, rather than less, intelligent use of language.
Are we saying we want people with less intelligence on this site

If they’re not added to the filter it’ll be impossible to keep track of.

I don't get why alternatives are such an issue, let alone the actual ones. Are we rebranding to ThisIsCreche.com now??

Also. I can type and actual swear word, the website will change it to a load of stars and it’s fine, I’m just not allowed to use a couple words that aren’t swear words because that’ll get me infracted.
What kinda logic.
Morgan.

Let alone the fact we are on a forum centred around Big Brother and other post-watershed TV - all of which include swearing - so surely if members are old enough to watch swearing on tv they're old enough to read it on a forum

The thing driving members away are the bigots running rampant in sd like who’d want to join a big brother forum to debate homophobic trolls but w/e

you mean in SD, that is why i proposed my idea of a Celebrity/Showbizz/Entertainment news only section, a place where we can talk about all things celebrities, and also for example red carpet events from movie premieres, award shows
There’s been multiple infractions for people using that word apparently, so it seems as if it isn’t allowed, although undoubtedly we will only find out what we’re not allowed to say when it’s too late.Actually theres been no infractions given out regarding the swear filter
So there you go another case of members thinking or believing what others tell them when in reality they haven't got a clue....

Can we not just get rid of the swear filter please? Hardly anyone wants it. There are far more pressing issues to deal with on here as others have pointed out.
How is saying feck getting around the swear filter? It’s a completely different word to ****Try telling that to the people complaining that they want everyone treated the same then going and reporting posts which use it, it's a way of getting round the swear filter so there you go.
Anyway closing this as its turning into the same old crap about the swear filter.
James wants the swear filter in place so it stays.
