View Full Version : WORST GoT ending for you?

We’ve all discussed who we want on the throne, but who would be the WORST person to end up on the throne in your opinion? (Or just the worst way to end the show in general?)
For me it would be either Jon being on the throne (just because it feels like the most predictable ending for the show and GoT is anything but predictable) or a cop out and a joint king/queen of dany and Jon
Epic.

Nobody ending up on the Throne because it would've made the whole objective behind the show's themes of power be for naught

A happy ending where most main characters live and the white walkers and Cersei are defeated easily.

I know Cersei has to die but I'd be sad to lose Tyrion, Jamie, Aegon (as we should be calling him), Dany, Sansa or Arya.
I think at least 2 of those will bite the dust which would leave me unsatisfied.
But I trust one of them will end up on the Iron Throne and another will rule the North.
Anything else would be really bad.

I think... if GRR Martin ever finishes writing the books and they end differently to the TV show ... I will be disappointed overall. But I can't say I have any expectations to how it ends other than since the story line started out with us invested in house Stark I would like it to end with them not being annihilated.
i'm not overly bothered who finally gets on the throne, it's more about the journey to get there. So I will be dissatisfied if someone gets there without putting in the effort

Dany on the throne would be the worst ending. She’s always been a terrible character and people are only starting to see it now. It’d also be way too obvious / basic of an ending anyway as the show has been banging on about her claim since season 1
The scenarios I would want in order:
1) Gendry on the iron throne as legitimate heir to Robert Baratheon (he may well not be a bastard and may be Cersei’s brown haired child that died as an infant)
2) Sansa ruling (Jon gives up the position?)
3) no one rules / iron throne is wiped out
4) Jon Snow sits on the iron throne
5) Cersei remains ruling
6) Coalition/joint ruler ship of Jon Snow and Dany
7) Dany sits on the iron throne
Feel like they’re the only possible scenarios and I’ve ranked them.

Tbh I'd hate either one of those endings so I'll lean towards one of those being my worst as what a waste of 8 seasons if that's the conclusion.

Worst by a mile would be Dany on the throne. Cannot stand her character now. Up til maybe S3/4 I would have loved her to get it. Now, shes just so arrogant, and cold, and far too 'bend the knee!!!!!!!' like. Also seems to be going a little mad with power. So mad king/queen II

Cersei would be the worst result. I'm not keen on Dany but I don't think she's evil like Cersei, just gone abit arrogant and entitled since the first couple of books/seasons. I mean you can kind of understand why she became that way when you think about all she went through to get herself into the position that she's in but it still makes me like her less

Oh yeah Cersei is worse than Dany...just,,shes so unrealistic to me. I already kind of see her as dead. No way would the story have gone on if it was just going to end wih Cersei still ruling. Far too much points to her death. The prophecy, her enemies, Danys vision of the throne room just decimated seemingly by fire as theres ash everywhere...just..Cersei is not even an option for me, but yeah she would be worse than Dany

I don't think there's any chance of it actually being her either but If I had to pick a worst result it would be her. I guess it would be kind of funny though if GRRM threw a massive curve ball at us and it was her though

Hmm I guess thats the kind of thing he purposely does. I think fans would be too up in arms for him to go quite THIS far (there would be much more uproar than him just killing Rob and his mother..when it seemed Rob was at his peak!)..like Cersei just wins and everyone is dead D: I vaguely remember something in the books about the golden company being loyal to dsome prince but they think he is dead. Not sure if I am misremembering it though. If thats right, I can see them actually turning on Cersei even though she hired them. So much is missing from the books though that its hard to remember whats just book and whats series!

In the books, the Prince was supposed to be Rhaegars eldest son with his previous wife and he had been hidden all the years and kept safe, although I think he wasn't really the son and it was just people making him think that so they could control the Iron Throne. They totally cut his character from the TV Show though so he must not have been that important.

The WORST endings would be Dany ruling with an iron fist because it effectively makes her a villain and I don't think it should go the "mad queen" route... or Jon ruling because it would be totally out of character as the whole point is that he's a "reluctant leader" and has thus far only accepted ANY leadership role because he needs to, in order to defeat the dead. He doesn't want to be king, that much has been made clear repeatedly, and anything other than him voluntarily abdicating once it's all done just doesn't make sense.
Really anyone actually ruling the 7 kingdoms would be a "bad" ending; most likely I think if both Dany and Jon survive, is Dany taking the "Six Kingdoms" and granting freedom to the North as a separate for Jon - who will then turn down being King and give Winterfell to Sansa as Queen in the North.
If Dany dies before the end then I think Jon may legitimise Gendry as a Baratheon and give the throne to him in a sort of "Bastard Solidarity" move (again, with the condition of the North being free).

The best ending would be a group of leaders rather than one king/queen on the throne. Surely if we're supposed to learn anything from the whole thing, it's that one ruler isn't the right way to go and the characters should learn that too, otherwise it's a pointless journey imo
Like i said before. i really don't mind who gets on the throne. If it's a natural ending ... great .... plenty of room for shock and awe, if it ends up some manipulated/contrived ending, that would annoy me immensely
