It's a joke

But what isn't a joke is the London-centric House of Lords fails to represent Yorkshire and North. I'm a Remainer but no wonder people voted Brexit.

'Just 6 per cent of peers reside in Yorkshire and Humber, compared to 8 per cent of the UK population, while the rest of the North is even worse represented.'

Yorkshire as a region has a population of almost 5.4 million, greater than that of Scotland. It’s economy is bigger than that of Wales. It has an area of nearly 12,000 sq km, comprising coastline, mountains, miles of open countryside and cities. Three of the 10 largest cities in the UK – Leeds, Sheffield and Bradford – are in Yorkshire. Yet we don't have a Parliament. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/long_reads/yorkshire-independence-devolution-devolved-parliament-mayor-northern-powerhouse-george-osborne-a8015556.html

Sorry for going off topic, right Yorkshire nationalist I am :p

Noone ever relly knows when this is, as people don't tend to celebrate it, certainly not the way English people celebreate St Patricks Day! I find it quite sad, how this is pretty ignored. Mind, and I am going to sound really daily mail here but its actually true, a guy round my mother in laws celebreated St Georges day by covering his house in England flags. And sitting merrily singing while drunk outside his giftwrapped house, no trouble caused and the people in the estate were joining in a bit tbh and the others didn't seen to care. Some ****er reported him right. And the police turned up telling him to take the flags down as they were 'upsetting' people. It was a day, he wasn't one of those numpties who does it to be a twat and keeps them up all year round shouting racist ****e or anything. But yeah, police involvement for celebrating St Georges day. I guess this might be why people don't bother, as they will be deemed 'problematic' :bored:

I don’t get what’s wrong with wishing everyone else in Britain a Happy St. Georgia’s Day though? We are all part of the UK are we not? English people have a piss up for St. Paddy’s!

People in England just use it as an excuse to drink, but Irish people don't need the day for that, they do it all the time anyway :fan:

he Labour Party has been mocked on social media for wishing the public a Happy St George’s day, on the wrong date.

On Monday, the party tweeted from its official account: “Happy St George’s Day!

"With the next Labour government, we’ll celebrate the patron saint with a bank holiday – and bank holidays for St Patrick, St David and St Andrew too.

“Sound good? Share the news.”

Twitter users were quick to note St George’s Day 2019 as falling on Tuesday, April 23, with one commenting: “The Labour Party has tweeted Happy St George’s Day on the wrong day. And they want to run the country!”
