View Full Version : Emily: Did BB know Emily was a racist?
lily.

It would seem that a lot of people are coming out in the press to state that they knew Emily was a racist. Now there's a theory that BB also knew of Emily's racist tendencies before she entered the BB house.
So, the question is: Do you think that BB knew about this and put her in anyway hoping for an incident exactly like this so that...
a) BB gets loads of press (yet again!) - because no publicity is bad publicity..
and also...
b) BB get to "do the right thing" this time to atone for getting it all wrong on CBB?
It's just a theory guys, not necessarily my views though. Discuss..
No i don't think BB knew with all the drama that happened during CBB i don't think they would of risked putting Emily if they knew she was racist or going to make a racist comment.

Your theory of course is possible L. I am not sure,,,,,,but it raises some interesting points.

I think that's really very interesting. Because had they known, they would've monitored her very closely, and sure enough, as soon as something had 'slipped out' of Emily's mouth, they acted on it immediately. It could well have been their way to try and amend the CBB5 situation and all the complaints they received, and show that they were dealing with this situation accordingly, whilst at the same time receiving publicity. Then, very cleverly putting two male housemates in tonight in order to gloss over it.
Again, my post is just a development of the theory. I'm not too sure whether I believe it but I wouldn't rule it out - it could well be a possibility that I hadn't considered before. If so I don't think it was a wise idea at all putting Emily in full stop, although, if this theory is true, they obviously were only thinking about their reputation and ensuring that the show could continue for viewers.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. Well, anyhow, it's worked wonders if it's true.
No, I don't think BB knew Emily would make racist comment.. from what I heard some housemates saying BB had made it very clear that anyone attempting to use racism or break any rules would be booted out. I see your point though .. however, I think Channel 4 want less publicity after the slating they are getting just lately.
lily.

Ash, it's interesting what you said as well.
I'm also unsure of what to think. It never even occurred to me until someone said it to me that they could have almost planned this so that they could get the good publicity for "doing the right thing".
It's maybe just a load of rubbish, but it's certainly something to think about.

Of course they warned them all beforehand, but she was on TV 24/7 and it is hard not to let something slip when you are watched like this. It is in fact a possibility that they did this to make themselves look good and "redeem" themselves after CBB5. We will never know.
And I actually think CH4 are handling things in a way to get maximum publicity, and making a good job of it.
I highly doubt they knew Emily would make a racist comment on national television, i think it's a fair point that yes the show would get publicity and whether it's good or bad the fact is people are still talking about it however after what happend on CBB i don't feel they would be that stupid.

I really don't think Emily's comment was racist. As others have said she was trying to be 'street' and simply didn't think before she spoke. She shouldn't have said what she said given the hysteria over this word.
but to automatically assume this comment was racist is wrong.

They probably knew she uses the word in the modern context asserted by people of black origin, yes, but your question is obviously void, seeing as she isn't a racist.

Personally I don't think you have the right to brand her a racist. She used a word that has racist connotations but there is no reputable evidence that she is, in fact, a racist.

How about a new pol which you must answer Yes or No
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
COME ON ANSWER YES OR NOW
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
I'm waiting
The premise of this question is wrong and based on nameless associates giving anonymous briefings to the gutter press.

I suspect BB DID know that Emily was racist and were just waiting for her to slip up (as she famously did) so that Big Brother could redeem themselves and step in as the big knight in shining armour and slay the bigot.
Fair play to BB - they've earned back ALOT of respect they lost from the Shilpa CBB fiasco!
Couldnt have happened to a more stuck-up middle class snob either :D

You still have not answered the question
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
COME ON ANSWER YES OR NO
Channel 4 want to show what good guys they are so risk further censure by OfCom to show they have learned their lesson.
what am I missing here?
Surely the sensible course of action would have been to make sure no contestant was likely to bring the wrath of OfCom down on their heads again.
Just because the N word was uttered the assumption is that the person uttering it must be racist.
By that logic there are a lot of racists here on TiBB because they have typed it out in full. Note like George Galloway, I refer to it as the N word so I do not cause offence.
It was uttered in an attempt to show she was one of the gang, as she explained her circle of black friends did. I now have independent confirmation, courtesy of the letters page of today's free paper the Metro that some people in the black community use this word amongst them selves. It was an attempt to fit in, that went horribly wrong.

So the opinion is, that BB knew that Emily is a racist person?
I am glad I can laugh at this guesswork.:laugh:
BB did not know about Emily saying the (N) word, until she said the word in the BB house.
Even if a show knows that a housemate is racist, they can't expect the housemate to say the racist word, can they?
It's a stupid opinion & just makes this small matter, much worse.

The only person full of hate is you Turrican. It would be extremely nice if you could grow up and stop spreading your poisonous lies, but if you are intent on continuing, there are sensible people on this forum who will endeavour to keep exposing your ignorant, illogical statements for what they are.
You have no need to keep pushing on with your hate filled campaign to brand Emily Parr a 'racist', you have the option of concentrating on Big Brother like everybody else, but something tells me you enjoy the attention your lies bring.
If you can continue to survive the ban of the moderators, you'll have to deal with logical, reasonable people putting you straight, instead.

well, as usual you made several fundamental errors here - which I am sure you are aware of!
1. I have not accused anyone of hatred
2. I have not spread ANY "Poisonous lies" I present only hard facts.
3. Not one single person so far has refuted anything I have stated - they cannot. The only replies I get from people here are "you are stupid" or "stop lying!"
4. If i surivive a ban? A ban for feeling happy that BB did the right thing? Am I not allowed to express happyness that Big Brother made the correct choice to evict a racist?
I look forward to logical, reasonable people "Putting me straight" so far I have not met any on this forum, especially not you.
ps. I am not full of hatred - I actually like alot of the houemates this year - I only dislike racists. I am currently supporting Ziggy and the twins - they are cool :)

I'm not in the show and you called me a racist in a different thread.
Emily Parr made no racist comment and yet you call her a racist constantly, with much glee.
Becoming friendly all of a sudden makes no sense to your other posts in previous converstions we've had, but if that's the way you would like it to be, then that's how it shall be. This argument is no more.
But remember, falsely accusing someone of being a racist will re-ignite this argument. It's up to you.

well, some people have speculated this, it is rather far-fetched I have to admit. But you also have to remember that BB were desperate to get a good image again.. and act like the "good guys" who deal with racists swiftly.
Either way, BB have come off the better from Emily's loss (and no, i'm not being smug this time)

I agree that Big Brother spend a lot of time carefully selective housemates for the BB8 show
I am very sure that if there was an auditionee who did display racial tendancies in their many interviews, they would NOT select that housemate.
Like I said before, even if she was chosen for the reason that has been suggested, they couldn't guarantee that she would air the (N) word.
It is true that many have suggested that she is a Racist person, but I would hold back on that assumption, as it hasn't been proved.
All she said was the (N) word & she has explained why & how she said it.

Hmm, i've got black friends - i've never called them a ni**ger as part of "friendly banter" or in any other shape or form. Neither do they use the word to describe themselves.
Charley clearly didn't see it as "banter" either and was very shocked and upset for the whole day afterwards - she was even crying over it.
The truth is Emily was removed for racism you are just going to have to learn to accept that; no matter how much you love her.

btw... if she used the N word as "friendly banter" why did she not use this word on any of the other non-black housemates? Why only use that insult towards a black person if it's such an innocent "banter" word?

She was removed for causing offence to another housemate or viewers. That's the truth which you are blindly refusing to accept which is causing this disagreement.
If you want to talk about the N word being offensive in certain contexts, it's another discussion, but to be honest(!), havn't we all debated that enough?
