Something I've been meaning to do for absolutely ages, and finally getting chance. I've found an order I'm happy with - so I'm going to be going through them at my own pace (maybe a couple films/shows a week?) and leaving some lil reviews along the way.
I'm gonna be doing the films and some of the series and ranking them as I go along.
Ranking
Captain America: The First Avenger (6.5/10)

Honestly have no idea my friends sent me through an order they like watching in
I’m beginning with The First Avenger if that helps

They recommended watching Captain Marvel nearer the end. I think it’s a combination of release and timeline. Idk hey just said his order will make the most sense

It makes more sense to watch them in the timeline order rather than release order.
The first Avenger is great, quite underrated.

Film: Captain America: The First Avenger
Release: 2011
Captain America: The First Avenger is first up in my first binge of The MCU - and I'll admit I had high expectations. Captain America is one of, if not the, favourite avenger of mine.
The film got off to an incredible start and for the first 50 or so minutes, I was hooked. Although I'm not someone that enjoys war films, or films set in that period, I was really enjoying the build up to Captain America's origin, what he was like as a character before and after his transformation and his motivations as a character.
It was after this when the film began to become less about Captain America's character building, and more the actual action of the story. And I'll be honest, this is where I began to lose interest. I didn't really have any care for the antagonists and I felt myself getting easily distracted.
The last hours I drifted in and out of interest. I just simply wasn't bothered by any of the narrative regarding the antagonists and instead it only really held my full attention when the story shifted to be about Captain America and what he was like as a character.
It wasn't a bad film by any stretch, and I did enjoy it. If I was watching at the cinema I'd probably have enjoyed it less as at home I was able to control where I payed more attention and where I payed less. And in the end my attention was held for most of the film and there was only probably 30 minutes total where I was disinterested.
Score: 6.5/10
For now it's going to sit at an above-average 6.5 and in the orange zone. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't have my full interest. It would have been Green with either a) a more gripping story regarding the antagonists and perhaps more build up to that, or b) complete focus on Captain America and his developments (which admittedly would be the makings for an awful superhero/action film in most people's standards).

I'm on to the Agent Carter series next. My expectations are much lower as it's a bigger commitment (18 episodes) and another war based instalment which I generally enjoy less. I did love her character though so it has that going for it from the start.

Agent Carter :worship: Probably not a coincidence that I stopped following the MCU not long after that was cancelled
And The First Avenger was probably my favourite of the MCU films I've seen (Iron Man to Age of Ultron) but I love the era

Thor is a good movie but it's not as great as the first Avenger.
Thor 1 is decent, Dark World is awful, Ragnarok is Fantastic.

I would counter that Thor 1 is a bit of a campy mess and is only "prequel good" - that is, if you watch it after you've gotten to know Thor in the Avengers films, it's quite a fun "flashback film"... but in chronological order it's not one of the best.
But then I think the same about The First Avenger. Didn't like it on release, loved it on a rewatch after Avengers 1 and Winter Soldier.

One thing I wondered about the Marvel universe, especially in First Avenger set in WW2 is where does all the futuristic technology come from.

Film: Agent Carter: Season 1
Release: 2015
Episode 1: A thrilling start to the series. I liked Peggy Carter in The First Avenger and did want more to her, and this was a fitting way to do so! She really does carry the episode, exceptional acting, great writing and a story that's easy to follow. So far for me it's done what The First Avenger failed to - and that's build a well rounded character with an interesting backstory as well as an engaging and suspenseful plot.
Episode 2: Although imo not as gripping as the first episode, Peggy never lost her charm and I found it equally as enjoyable. I'm starting to love all of the supporting characters also, which is promising.
Episode 3: I'm glad to have found a series which has kept the excitement and storyline up throughout (so far). We are three episodes in, and despite one or two short unnecessary scenes in each episode (that are likely just to fill airtime) it's been pretty consistent in keeping my interest, and it's continuing to outdo my expectations.
Episode 4: For some reason, it's taken me nearly a week to complete this episode, which isn't a good sign. It just wasn't holding my interest well, and I found myself having to do things whilst watching it to pass the time as my attention was just not there.
Episode 5: I'm over halfway now it's coming to peaks and troughs. Although this episode was more 'watchable' (I loved the little twist with Dottie, and the story was more promising) - I still found myself having to do other things at the same time to stop myself switching off.
This will be updated as the series progresses.
Current Score: 6/10 (Subject to Change)

I think with the First Avenger you'll appreciate it more on a rewatch in a few months. That's what happened to me. I watched it at the cinema when it was released back in 2011 and i thought it was decent but nothing speical. I then rewatched it in the lead up to the first Avengers film in 2012 and i loved it more.

Because there's doesn't seem to be any relevant links to the films and rest of the MCU - I'll probably skip S2 for now and come back to it later. I'll be finishing S1 at some point though.
