View Full Version : The school run.
Waiting on my bus yesterday...which was late again...
I was looking at all the cars that went past..there must have been 100 cars that went past and out of that I would estimate 80 percent were parents taking kids to school. Loads were of obviousbly high school age..
Got me wondering how many of these parents moan about the environment.

My local village school is a nightmare for flashy 4x4s and oblivious women pulling straight out of the school onto the road, no matter what's coming. And do they stick to 30mph? No, they're the worst offenders.

It's the same here, I honestly think my daughter's primary school was sponsored by Range Rover.

LOL...
There is such a noticeable difference when the schools are on holiday even in a rather rural place like this, you must see it too.
those 4 x 4's are probably eco friendly though, i very rarely see old ones doing the school run

I drop mine to school on the way to work so it's not an extra journey, I have to drive where I live I'm afraid, public transport isn't great and I'm a 45-50mins drive from home to work

I HATE people who drop their kids off and literally park wherever they want. My ex boyfriends parents live by a cemetary and right next to that is a school and his dad used to have to park his car in front of the house so he could get out in the morning because if he never they would park over the drive and if he said anything they would gob off at him

It actually annoys me how popular the big 4x4s are now.
Like? This isn't America, our roads are tiny. Stop showing off and get a normal sized car that fits in a ****ing lane.

I find it quite amusing watching them try to park. Where I live it’s not big range rovers but those crossover 4x4 things that clog up the streets.

I live in the country but I see these 4x4s squeezing down country lanes barely wide enough for two minis to pass.

98% of 4x4s have never been offroad
And that’s because most of them can’t even be driven off road

The school run is a modern British phenomenon resulting from parents taking their children to school by car.
It’s a British thing

I think the issue these days is that parents drop on their way to work, everyone is working and in a rush, if we want to save this planet we need to seriously overhaul the way we live and that will mean people working less and having less disposible inocme, driving less, buying less, holidaying less....are we all ready to do this yet? I don't think so
