i know dutch topics never really get people's interest on here

but i think there must also be a few overpaid tv presenters in other countries such as UK, US

we here in holland have one prime time talk show host Matthijs Van Nieuwkerk, he gets criticism quite a lot for being overpaid, yet he brings in good viewer ratings for the channel he works for, also has good quality special guests, debating about anything on his show (showbizz, regular news, sports) had the premiere of our dutch entry for eurovision twice in a row now too

so i don't know if he's then overpaid, i thought this subject would be interesting for SD, for a debate

How do you judge what a fair salary is?

I don't know so much as to being overpaid.
However why 2 always seem to be near needed is beyond my understanding.

The ones I've met were bloated drunks that looked like potatoes.

true somehow, i also have no idea how some on these tabloids critique certain presenters on their salaries

while they overhype others, who do less good things (have no good viewer ratings but still they get praise for being amazing presenters)

I don't see it as a problem. If they pull big viewing numbers, have been doing it for years, and front multiple shows, then of course they'll be making a lot of money.

What annoys me is when you get someone paid huge amounts of money to present in the English language... and they mangle it.

The BBC could give Tess Daley a tenner to host Strictly and she’d be overpaid

maybe give a former winner a chance to host Strictly

US has done that with Brooke Burke, and Germany has done that twice (first Sylvie Meis, and now currently Victoria Swarovski)
