How do you pronounce hyperbole?

I am so confused right now. Just heard someone on a show saying

hi-pear-bowl-ee

I have always pronounced this hi-per-bowl and it had me not even understanding what the sentence meant at first before I clicked on to what it was. And now the internet tells me that number 1 is correct? Surely not..and surely someone would have pointed this out to me before now if I was mispronouncing quite that much..

I have never seen that word before in my life. But yes, I would pronounce that per se phone most likely, if I ever used it.
