Can you bake cakes, biscuits etc?

I am literally the worlds worst at baking, I tried shortbread once and almost cost my entire family trips to the dentist [emoji23]

But today I am well pleased with myself, last night I made a slab old school style sponge and icing cake, gonna have some with custard after dinner mmm

And I've just made a batch of scones :flutter: look not too bad for a terrible baker imo but more importantly they taste amazing! :hee:

I love baking - it's nice to do when you need to clear your head for a while

And you get food at the end which is a bonus

No and I have no interest in it despite liking shoes like the Bake Off. The TL is a keen baker and is always making cakes and things like soda bread and banana bread but the whole mess that is made is quite stressful, so many things used. It drives me mad watching them on tv as i just think "yeah but who is washing that up and putting it away?" Jamie drove me mad last night as he kept dirtying things

I'll make anything, but cakes and biscuits normally just because they're usually the quickest/easiest things to make.

Glad that you've excelled yourself with your sponge and batch of scones though.

When I have the time, I usually make scones, quiche's and pasties, sponges etc.

I made some coffee kisses on Thursday and they are scrumptious, but i've put the rest away, otherwise i'd end up the size of a house by next week. lol

I can bake inasmuch as I can follow a recipe, but I don't love it. I've said this before, but here I go again... I made a lemon meringue pie when I was at school and I asked the teacher how much of the lemon I should put in? She said, all of it... I suppose thinking it was a real lemon, but it was a Jiff squeezy lemon. My Dad, who loves lemon meringue, took a bite and his whole face puckered. At heart, I've never been much of a cook of any kind.

Josy, I'd have been as proud as punch of those scones.

I'm okay with a small set of recipes I've tried and tested... not many things I've tried to bake though (just can do the basics: a victoria sponge, brownies, muffins, cookies etc. Made a loaf of bread once or twice and it came out nice.

My go-to are these, though... if I could be arsed I'd make these every week

(cba with all that drizzle and decoration nonsense on top, just basically 2 separate batches of chocolate/peanut butter brownies on top of one another)

(had a photo on my Insta but it's not loading past a certain point on my browser smh)
