You can tell if a battery is dead by dropping it about six inches on to a hard surface. If it bounces and rolls then its dead but if it just drops and falls on its side then its still got some juice left

You can tell if an egg is fresh with two methods

1 - Drop it into a tall glass of water. If it rests on its side then its fresh but if its vertical then stale.

2- crack it open. If the white forms a nice circle around the yolk and the yolk is slightly off the surface then its fresh, if the white goes all over the place, stale.
