The Equality and Human Rights Commission has launched a formal investigation into the Labour Party over allegations of anti-Semitism.

The watchdog told the party in March it had received a number of complaints and was considering its next steps.

It will now formally look into whether Labour has "unlawfully discriminated against, harassed or victimised people because they are Jewish".

Labour has said it will "co-operate fully", the EHCR added.

Thank goodness.
It's really bad this had to happen.
However I am of the view no organisation complained about should investigate itself.

Whether that's a political party, a hospital trust or company.

Let's see what this investigation concludes now.

I welcome it and this issue needed independent investigation from the start.
Just as other Parties too, need some independent investigating of claims against them on issues.

It's about time. That "inquiry" headed by Chakrabati was ridiculous, and if this investigation proves her wrong, she should be asked to stand down her dameship... or whatever the hell they do...

I read with interest today that Labour's investigation for anti-Semitism by the Equality and Human Rights Commission makes them only the second party - after the British National Party - to be investigated in this way. Meanwhile long-time Labour minister Claire Short has dismissed the anti-Semitism claims declaring that pro-Palestinian supporters are being "picked on" and that there is "not a lot" of Jew-hate in Labour.

It would be good to remember this next time someone's on here crying "bigot".

Bigotry of the left and fat left is often overlooked. Sick of hearing about Hitler while Labour supporters carry Stalin flags to rallies.
