The chain, owned by New York-listed
Walgreens Boots Alliances,
is considering closing more than 200 shops,
during the next two years.

[Employing roughly 56,000 people,
Boots is one of the largest retailers
in Britain by store numbers and
also trades from about 1100
opticians and hearing-care shops
which use its brand.
The company joins most other
major high street players in examining
measures to reorient its bricks-and-mortar
presence as consumers' shift to
digital channels accelerates.]

Not surprised, it won’t be as much falling figures as not meeting targets

Some stores are doing so well
and will not be touched
But this USA group also bought
other Independent Chemists and Opticians
then made them Boots
it will be the many smaller ones.

Also if you go to a Big Sainsburys,
AsdaWalmart or Tesco
they have their own Chemists inside.
Cheaper prices as well.

...it’s really sad how many large retailers are closing their high street stores atm..and just the general face of town centres which are dying off...but a lot of stores just don’t seem to be looking at their stock supplies... and they’re offering free delivery on online orders where stocks are always there...so it’s as if they want to transfer to just online only sales ...

Always found Boots quite pricey ,but they do have some lovely gifts at Christmas ,we have a Boots in town and nothing really to replace it ,so hope it stays for now at least.
