I saw hte interview and I thought it was genuine. I don't think she needs to take back what she said. I think she needs to move on and learn from this expereince.

Agree. She clearly didn't mean it in a racially offensive way, but by the way she let it slip made it seem like it's common vocabulary for her.
I felt really bad for her in the Diary Room and on BBLB. :(

she shouldn't have said it and it's a disgrace that she did what an awful thing to say to somebody and it's all very well saying sorry but it shouldn't have been said!:nono:

Precisely. The double standard and contradictions is causing havoc with this debate.
She said sorry for the offence caused, and she meant it. Girth put it best, it's something to learn from.

Simply by watching the interview rather than being there, I knew she was. Despite what I've read in the papers, I do feel what she said to Charley was simply from a lack of knowledge. But because of the way she handled the situation, she got an opportunity and did the best she could to put across how she felt. IMO she can now concentrate on getting back to normal with less difficulties.

Jo Jade and Danielle cried on camera....Emily Didn't....we only found out that she cried via Vanessa Feltz

Whether cries 2% or 18% I simply won't look at the %
What I do instead, is look at the evidence & then make a judgement on that.
What I also don't do, is accuse Emily of being a racist person, just because she said the (N) word on that particular day & time.
Remember, it was said in a certain way too.

So far as Endemol is concerned, it doesn't matter how it was said. The (N) word was said, end of....
Bye, Bye...Emily.
We all saw that:rolleyes:
However, as Emily has explained the situation & the footage is pretty clear, to how it was said, it does place Emily in a better light.
If she had have been angry with Charley & said the (N) word in a very offensive manner, it may have been viewed much worse.

nodisharmony  I have not revealed this as yet because it will be viewed as a minor point. I watched the incident and when Emily used the word I became quite angry. The reason for my anger was the presence of the word ‘you’. Emily said ‘you nigger’. If she’d have said 'you’re pushing it out nigger’ then the use of the word would be different. It’s a small point, I know, but it is significant. This word has so many meanings and it’s use is so sensitive. The presence of the word ‘you’ makes a significant difference, trust me. The ‘you’ means that she was actually calling Charley this word. That means that it could easily have been taken the wrong way. It’s complicated but do you understand that? So the fact that Emily didn’t say the word in an angry way makes no difference. She said it in a very disrespectful way. Definitely.

Nodis needs to read my post above. it answers a point he's made in another thread.
No. I don't believe Emily was trying to act black. I dont think she meant any offence but the way she used the word is not the way I've ever heard any black person use that word in a playful manner. A disrespectful manner - yes. And that is all down to the word 'you' being used as well.

The way you view this situation is understandable, simply because you have scrutinized Emily's use of the word & like you said, it's the "you, (N) word".
Sadly, Emily is in the BB house. She should be more than aware that the (N) word is a "Racist word" & will NEVER be accepted by BB, not ever...
However, she did say the (N) word, so we all ask ourselves, "WHY?"
I shall explain. "Emily just did it" She said the (N) word. She said it exactly as we saw it & that is the situation.
She explained why she said it & that is her explaination. Why would she say it to Charley herself, right in front of her & knowing that the word is a Racist word, she must have a reason.
Emily has explained herself fully on the matter & beyond that, there is little you can do, but analyse it all.
But we still get back to Endemol & Channel 4 for allowing the Racist word to be aired & that is a terrible thing to do, as it kind of plays down the (N) word itself.
If I was in charge of the show. I would have beeped the word out completely. But kept everything else in, that wasn't racist.
Accusing Emily of being a racist person generally, just because of this one incident is taking things a bit too far.

I have never at any point accused Emily of racism but she did say the word in a respectful manner. I don't accept any body's claim that it was a minor incident. It wasn't

You've lost me in the first sentance:puzzled:
If some have said that Emily was acting Black, then that is up to them? I just watch & listen & make judgements from that. Plus listening to her own defence too.
Some may say, that she is trying to climb her way out of this?
Is that how you view it GiRTh?

She got thrown out of the BB house & the Newspapers are having a field day once again, CBB5 time again:rolleyes:
But nobody forced Emily to open her mouth & say this Racist word, she chose to & now, must face the music, "So to speak".
I am only interested, when people wish to make it much more than it is, when it was just a bad mistake at the wrong time.
Has she said that (N) word before in her life??
"More than likely", is that a fair comment?

She claims to have used the word before but I doubt it. if she knew the sensitivity of the word she'd have never used it the way she did, with 'you' before it.

I disagree. I've heard it used in that playful way with the word 'you' inserted, it's always come across as a sort of boisterous banter. I don't think it alters it in any way.
3 friends having a playful dance in the garden, it doesn't make sense for one of them to just hurl an insult at one of the others. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
