Mel C did a U-turn on her snub to a Spice Girls reunion after her company went £850,588 into the red.
The singer, 45, is in the middle of a 13-date tour with bandmates Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner that is set to make them £10million each.
And it has now emerged Red Girl Records, which the 45-year-old founded in 2004, has assets of £71,187 while owing £921,775 to creditors.
Sporty refused to join Scary, Baby and Ginger for a 20th anniversary tour in 2016, which would have earned her up to £4million.
She said later: “It was irking me that going back as a four-piece didn’t quite cut it. With people out of the mix, whoever it is, the dynamic changes.”
But Mel also admitted three years ago it was hard to make cash as a solo artist, saying: “I’m not as high-profile as I was at the beginning of my solo career, so to make a living selling records at my level – it’s hard. I don’t expect to sell enough records to recoup the money spent on the album but hopefully we can tour and make ends meet in other ways.”
She is now back on the road with Mel B, Emma and Geri, with Victoria Beckham the only stayaway from the original line-up.
The tour, ending this month at Wembley, is the first time the girls have reunited since the closing ceremony for the 2012 Olympics.
