View Full Version : A suggestion regarding the ignore function

So you have someone on ignore, so you can’t see them when they post, which is good because the ignore feature is doing it’s job. But then their posts get quoted when people reply to them, and then you can see their post, which defeats the purpose of the ignore function imo because chances are the posts that are getting quoted are the posts which make you want to have the member on ignore anyway.
So would it be possible for the “This message is hidden because Member is currently on your ignore list./View Post/Remove user from ignore list” message to be implemented into the quote as well? I think it would make the ignore function more useful and would help it to serve it’s purpose more than it currently does.

I'd love something like this. I hope Josy doesn't mind me saying so but she told me when I made a thread the other day regarding the ignore function that she would put a total ignore function to James and see if it is viable.
I really hope it can be implimented!

Erm, I will get round to looking at this properly. Have been busy and also not entirely sure if I can do it, but in theory, I should be able to. The ignore function really should work better than it does mind, but it seems the same on all vbulletin forums. The only way we can get it half decent on here, is using scripts and stuff. I know I said I would do it earlier in the week..but yeah, its a bit daunting given scripting and such..I havent done since I was a teen, writing auto haggle scripts for the neopets marketplace :joker:
Edit - Oh, I think you want the 'this user has posted' type message on any quotes? Don't think I can do that. What I will hopefully be able to do, is remove any quotes of anyone on your ignore list completely..like the script I found the other day removes the 'this user has posted' box so 'ignores' current users better.
