I find it incredible people who support him aren't realising it's feared what he'll say in debates.
Normally you can't shut the man up.

What. Do you have any actual reason to believe any of the six men have changed their mindset on any topic? Genuine question because it would be quite nice to support one of them lol. They all seem awful.
Which tory politician has rebelled against the tories and voted for something a bit more human?

Its the "rich" that provide jobs for people to able go online and slag them off from the benefit of their subsidised accommodation on their free medication.
when the "poor" are in pubs or sat on their armchairs watching soaps the "rich" are working to pay the tax to look after them when they get drink and food related disease in their 50s

thing ts all very well all the "i hate tories, farage, trump grrrr" people posting all the hate but who do yo want to be in charge?
lets have some names, someone has to fill roles. Lets have your "people" and we can analyse them?
Too many folk giving it the "they are all crap" line and abdicating responsibility
Life does not work like that and often people who are the managers, directors and politicians get the stick solely because they put their neck on the line
when you are in charge of people its not easy and things go wrong
but its oh so easy to sit back and find fault knowing no comebacks....

What a pointless programme. What is even the point when it's not the people getting the chance to elect?
And even if they did, none of them had a chance to speak without that woman talking over them. She's supposed to keep everything running smoothly, not distract from the debate.
But, honestly, if our only hopes to get the country through this Brexit mess rests within these 5 men we are absolutely ****ED.

Did anyone give a straight answer? apart from Rory when he said he wouldnt lower taxes
i thought it was hilarious that no-one would commit to leaving on the 31st October. I thought Boris was shambolic, but I don't think it will do him any harm
I don't think that debate revealed anything at all so Boris will probably be very happy with it. Problem with it really was that none of the questions are ones that Tory members are that concerned about so they all had to pay lip service to them without really being that passionate about them
I actually think Saj has been the best so far but I think he's preparing to drop out and get behind Boris as one of his key supporters in return for a very good job, those two seemed in agreement the most tonight
joeysteele
18-06-2019, 09:38 PM
Did anyone give a straight answer? apart from Rory when he said he wouldnt lower taxes
I know we rarely get straight answers, however Rory gave at least 2.
He guaranteed he'd never leave the EU with no deal and as you said, the taxes one.
However, it was a badly laid out programme.
Emily failed to keep it moving and it just seemed Boris was intent on trying to ignore her.
No one shone, the programme's format and presenter made it pretty hard to shine though.
This was one of the worst debates I've watched so far as to politics.
Very sadly too, because sitting there on this programme is the next UK Prime Minister.
There's still only one of them I'd support if I was a Conservative.
Worst one for me tonight was the awfully arrogant 15 year old girl
after the way they all talked tonight, i don't think the tory party will be viable by the end of the year. People go on about the support Boris has, but it's only 40% of the parliamentary party. May had more support than that in her prime, so all this painting of Boris as the saviour is completely wrong.
The number of MP's that support Rory alone is enough to kill any chances Boris has of getting anything passed parliament
joeysteele

I agree with near all that.
This is a mess which is why the likely only thing to do is pass May's agreement.
At least then the leaving process issue is enacted.
The useless presenter failed to press just how with the EU not sitting, our Sumner recess and then conferences.
Where is the time to negotiate anything of substance.
We were advised not to waste the time extended by the EU.
It's all we've done.
This wasn't a debate in my opinion.
It was a question and answer session always failed by being asked wrong questions.
With real debate between the candidates closed down by Emily.
Boris, maybe still treading carefully to not engage with the others, either looked tired or just watching the clock.
Rory seemed fed up and disillusioned by the later stages.
As I was too.
Rather than being a debate, this format stifled debate.
Of which Emily made things much worse as to that too.
Really sad state politics is in.
It really saddens me to say and see that too.
It could well be who gets the leadership this time, is like May, holding that poisoned chalice and it will bring them down too.
Either by failure on brexit or in a general election.

It was rather surprising that Johnson can refuse the suggested debates, then get a solo one with the BBC.
I don't want either as PM of the UK.
However in that Interview all Johnson did was give a clouded idea of leaving the EU, with no meat on the bones of how he'd deal with the still problems of Parliament.
To be fair, Hunt isn't saying anything as to that either.
This statement.
They need to have a plan to put forward on it all.
Well, sorry but they should have, and should be detailing that plan now.
If they haven't got said plan in place to go now.
They are not the people who should be seeking to be PM, never mind on the point of being put in as PM by the Conservative membership.
Not in my lifetime so far, nor in all past records I've studied of Prime Minister's and party leaders.
Have we ever been in this dreadful position of not only having the worst possible individuals as PM and Party leaders.
However to have even those seeking leadership also being the worst possible candidates too.

Valid Point
most have voted Boris already by now.
This is why that Early SkyNewsHD debate would have helped,
but presenter Kay Burley scared Boris Away.
the 200 ITV selected audience will be asking
wide range questions they say.
Makes a change from the Hustings that were full of their supporters
The only time the 2 of them are next to each other
etc.
Stand in's testing the set up.

Terrible from Johnson.
Avoiding answering so much that should have been easy to, if he's really sincere and genuine.
Honestly this pathetic excuse for a man is going to be foisted on the whole UK, in the highest elected office of the land, by the members of the Conservative party.
It's a disgrace.
Hunt was better, answered more but it's unbelievable these are the only 2 deemed the best on offer from the Conservatives.
Johnson really though, came across ignorant, devious and false.
What a waste of time.

Theresa was better as PM than Boris will ever be, also him stealing trump's slogan and ukfying it, from ''make america great again'' and now we got ''make britain great again''
so Boris also isn't very Original as for his campaign for PM, what i'm trying to say
and yes agree with you that these 2 are the best what conservatives have to offer
Hunt would be going slightly out of that pit what May created (better option), but Boris would be going for a bottomless pit (even worse)

If this debate was held earlier, Hunt might have more chance - he came off pretty well, is usually quite genial and likeable, and Johnson's mouth often works for the opposing side.
But it's probably too late by now.

Shocking performance from him.
Hunt was amateurish.

Interesting viewing, Hunt was super nervous but parried well
I thought Johnson was more than a match for Marr which is saying something :skull:
Both did well I thought - Hunt for answering everything calmly and confidently and Boris for being so punchy and giving as good as he got from Neil
