So the general consensus of game of thrones was that the last ever series was bad. There were only 6 episodes maybe 7 I can't remember as I don't like to reflect on that series... Because they wanted to make it all big and look spectacular and yes it was pretty impressive to look at but it didnt wow me as much as a powerful storyline and a powerful ending would have wowed me. I was very disappointed and it kind of changed my outlook on game of thrones as a whole even though I know a lot of it had amazing storytelling
So its got me thinking, other shows that have ended have you been left utterly disappointed with how they ended and did it change your view on the whole show overall
Which shows could have had better last ever series or last ever episode and how would you have ended them
Remember if there are spoilers to be careful
One show that did end recently and I was satisfied with the ending and it was treated with a lot of respect was the big bang theory

How I Met Your Mother
9 seasons, all that anticipation of finding out who the mother is, for her to just be killed off in the series finale was just tragic. Then surprise surprise, Ted still has feelings for Robin, which we knew about 3 or 4 seasons prior
The whole of series 9 was just a drab as well, I didn’t find any of it as funny as the first few seasons.
Honestly the show should’ve just been called:
‘How I Met Robin, broke up with her, didn’t admit our feelings for the next 23 years and then wait for my kids approval to date her again’

Lost - that final season was all kinds of awful.
Stopped watching that as soon as it changed channels was it like after the first or second series but I heard how it end and it sounds as if the ideas they had on the very first series didn't match what had actually has meant to go on at the end

Penny Dreadful's final episode was bizarre in that it wasn't promoted as such and seemed so rushed and out of nowhere. Stranger considering it ending was the design of the showrunner rather than cancellation. It wasn't a bad ending in itself but how and when it all went down was rushed and underwhelming.
12 Monkeys had a BRILLIANT final season (and final episode for the most part) but I feel like the very last sequence wasn't needed. Didn't ruin the ending but it would have been even stronger if they ended without (I'll tag as if anyone other than me and Niamh on here will ever watch it lol) Cole being returned to the final timeline. Him being erased was a fitting end and having him survive because "time owed him one" felt like a bit of a cop out for the sake of having a completely happy ending. Bittersweet endings are always better than perfectly happy ones imo, especially when logic is stretched a little to accommodate it.
Still one of the best and most underrated TV shows of all time though

I enjoyed 90210 until the 4th season. I just stopped watching and never bothered to finish it. I hate it when shows get axed and they have to rush finales.

Dexter was my all time favourite show but they absolutely ruined it with the ending. . .it was bizarre.
I quite liked the last season of GOTs but it was far too rushed

Friends was quite a good ending I suppose but I was heartbroken at the time
Desperate housewives I think could have ended better but one scene that particularly bugs me is
when Susan drives away from wisteria Lane and all the ghosts of people are around her the fact that edie britt isn't there is disgraceful and I know its because of all the stuff thst was going on at the time. Also it showed all the ladies living away from each other at the end I found that sad. It should come back as them reuniting over a murder case or something I'd love it to make a return

Is dexter worth a watch then I've never seen it but I remember my dad and sister loving it so I might try and get the boxset on sky. Still haven't seen breaking bad or sons of anarchy and everyone I know goes on about them

I think the ideas matched, it was just the way it unfolded wasn't very good.

Breaking Bad is amazing and I was really happy with ending
Sons of Anarchy is good at the start but it gets worse and worse and cheesier and cheesier

GoT
Dexter
Lost
One Tree Hill when it FIRST ended at the end of S8, but then they brought it back for a 13-ep S9 that I really enjoyed :joker:
The OC
Pretty Little Liars
Stargate Atlantis
Angel ending on a cliffhanger; I actually really liked S5 and the final episode would have been great, had there been an S6.
The list goes on to be honest. It would be quicker to list shows that I think *did* end well.

Do you watch the walking dead? Fantastic at the start it dipped during the I am negan couple of series but the most recent series was brilliant. I hope when that ends(which I hope won't be for years) that it will have a good ending

Lostie re 12 Monkeys, that was one of my favourite endings
I actually think the final season overall might be the best season. I just wish the last episode ended a few minutes earlier
Pretty Little Liars
I didn't know you watched that  But yeah completely agree. I was stupid enough to think they might have actually took heed of the backlash to the A reveal and had a more satisfactory AD.
On top of that they had the GALL to have a fake reveal for the character I wanted to be AD. I was fuming :joker:

Yeah I don’t know why they put her with some random who was in about 5 episodes. Liam & Naomi:love:
I loved Dexter too and the final season was just so wrong. Wasn't overly impressed with the last season of Breaking Bad either
I have a slightly different take on series that end badly. So many just go on too long that I really don't care how things end as I have given up on them. It's the mark of a good show when you are left unsatisfied at the end.

If OITNB ends on the same bleak and depressing tone that the previous series did, then that will be bad. PRAYING!
