Well,Endangering passenger planes is terrorism.

If something goes wrong people could die.

they could potentially bring an aircraft down, so that does warrant a life sentence. They could murder hundreds of people.

I *could* kill a guy with my kitchen knives tomorrow if I wanted to, I don't exactly see a life prison sentence heading my way today.

If you went into the street with them waving them around at people then you’d be arrested and get a very tough sentence.

Not dissimilar to flying drones on a commercial airliner flight path except that could kill way more people.
