View Full Version : Infractions should NOT come as a private message?
Crimson Dynamo

When you look up at your private message and its in bold and you think "oh what lovely message is this :amazed: "and then its an infraction or a profile warning or a ban :oh: that is not right.
These type of messages should come in another way and a member should not think "oh God what have I done now" every time he (or she) gets a private message :skull:
As a member who rarely understands what it is I have actually done wrong (but am sure i have broke the rules ) I find this constant state of anxiety not good and i think we can all agree this needs to be sensitively addressed in this inclusive time in which we live??
I cant be the only member who suffers from "Private message inbox infraction anxiety disorder" ?

I wouldn’t mind having an infraction thread or something, I don’t care who knows about my infractions and I think most people are the same, so I don’t care if they aren’t private

Yup, let's have transparency
A certain mod usually outs the infracted person in random threads anyway.

Yeah a public infraction thread would be welcome. It would be interesting to see what people are infracted for so we know where we stand in rules, and it works for transparency reasons too.

This
No infraction thread. It will just encourage member baiting
Heres a plan.... this answers the other thread too I guess, how about at least trying not to get infractions :hee:

if there were a public infractions thread there is a chance someone could take advantage of it and bait someone to try and get them a ban.
Saying that I wouldn't be bothered if mine were public at all. We all make mistakes after all.

I think they should be handwritten by Josy and handed out to our parents at a TiBB Parents Evening
That or put out a notice in the member's local paper, informing their area that they've used a derogatory term about the disabled or whatever.

Every time I get a PM, I assume its a well-thoughout out from-the-heart message from a close pal. What are these infractions?
Marsh.
17-06-2019, 09:42 PM
Yeah, I assume every notification I get is an infraction/warning/ban.
When it's a wall message or actual PM I'm pleasantly surprised. Although that is only 5% of the time. :fan:

It's very easy. Dont break rules
Before I became a moderator I had zero infractions or warning because I didnt go around breaking rules I agreed to when I signed up....

How would those who dislike the PM method like them to be sent? I cannot actually think of another way that would..let members know they have one.
If answering your question is trolling then yeah must be [emoji23]Remember that Southampton lesbian thread I referred to earlier? I had a post that simply said "no" deleted in that thread, it was a reply to the member Twosugars, go check it out if you think I'm lying.
Why when you reply with "no" is it OK, but not for me?
Get out of that one!

I think a singing telegram would be good, or a Howler like in Harry Potter
ages ago wasn't there a banned thread on here? a mod would say ___ has been banned for whatever reason and their ban date, why did that get rihmoved
I think TiBB should invest in an army of robot drones that can be sent out to those banned. I'm sure Arista could help out with this

I know josy said she messagd you. But I will answer this too as just checked it out. Your no was deleted as it was quoting a deleted post. If theres more to a post than one word answers (Ie. Had you gone into detail of an opinion on the topic) then sometimes we manually delete the quoted post bit to leave your post standing..but your no would not have made any sense without the original post, which was deleted

I'd rather not be told!
Let me break the rules and be confused as **** when I'm banned not knowing truly why!

I am reformed
I think we should have a thread where we can contest our infractions. As a prospective mod (my goal is to be a mod by Christmas this year!) I simply CANNOT have any infractions, it ruins my CV AND reference! Consequently I need them removed ASAP!

That would be too civilised.

It isn't civilised at all Alf because we did have an appeals section at one point which we had to close because of how uncivilised people would become in there

Plus the exact same abuse goes on in PMs to staff currently. So this shows that the same issues would be there if the appeals forum as reopened.

Making infractions public isn't a good idea, and people would soon complain. Often an infracted post is part of a series of deleted posts, so the rest of the forum wouldn't be able to understand the context.
The appeals forum was more trouble than it was worth. It just encouraged complaints and people rarely admitted they'd done something wrong.

There would be uproar if there was a public thread and people could see some of the petty stuff people get infracted for.

Can you please at least, post all the reasons you can be infracted for...we can then make a tic list thread where we just tic the ones we have had one for.....ALL OF THEM THOUGH..even the weird ones.:joker:
