1975

The Spice Girls ( A wildcard choice and depending how the come back progresses but could be a crowd pleasing set)

I think Adele may headline again if she has a new album this year or they will go for Rhianna.

I think there will be more women headline acts then men

I wouldnt be surprised to see someone like U2 or The Artic Monkeys headlining again

Spice Girls aren't back though.

They're doing what they always do, a reunion tour to top up their bank balances before ****ing off again.

They have said they may record new music but even if they just extended their tour they wouldnt necessarily need to release new music

Ed Sheeran
Fleetwood Mac
Paul McCartney

Just because it's the 50th Glastonbury and I think the focus will be on some legends rather than contemporary performers. Eavis was really vocal about wanting Fleetwood Mac and the only barrier being their booking fee, and they're keen to do it too.

Doesnt he Daughter have most of the control over bookings now?

We want Lizzo

Possibly so but I think he has some influence. Fleetwood Mac would be a major coup for them, probably the biggest band ever that hasn't done it before, and still hugely popular across the board in ways that most "legendary" bands aren't.

I honestly think Fleetwood Mac are one of those always rumoured but will never do it

Although I read they try to book the headliners with a year or 2 in advance

Although its probaly time Bastille headlined, I would suggest Pink but that girl is so slept upon when it comes to this stuff

Actually Jess Glyne could be a good shout

Adele might be possible yeah, given she got new music coming end of this year

Bastille, Jess and Dua aren't headline material. Barely even slot-before-headline material.

Headline material: Madonna, Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, P!nk, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse, Arcade Fire, Morrissey, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, ABBA*, Fleetwood Mac, Ed Sheeran (sadly), Adele, Rolling Stones, The Who, Kanye West, Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers maybe???? idk might be a bit past it now.

Left-field choices that could be interesting, are certainly legendary figures of music but would get a few "....eh?" headscratches from the unwashed masses: Pet Shop Boys, Bjork, MIA, Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, The Specials, Madness

Potential reunions that would mark the occasion nicely: Oasis, Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., Stone Roses, Blur

Of today's most contemporary popstars I could only really see Ariana Grande being justifiable as a headliner. People like Selena, Miley, Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift etc. are all too "youth-market" to get a headline gig I think. The 1975 would be great but I don't know if they're seen as huge enough by the older generations yet. Wouldn't object, though.

Excluding anyone who's headlined this year because that'd be odd.

*omg I would scream. Aren't they touring soon again?

Didnt they also have an ABBA tribute act open the festival this year? :suspect:

Shaun

They did! But the fact that this ABBA comeback is supposed to be experimental with technology and doesn't actually have the four band members in person on television (as far as we know), would make it an extreeeeeeemely optimistic shout for Glastonbury :(

Would be as big as Fleetwood Mac joining, though. Astronomically big news for music.

I wouldnt be surprised to see BTS headline depending on how big they get, it would be a potential big deal which would see people all over the world trying to get tickets.

The one band that came to mind was ABBA. Imagine if they got them to headline? Amazing. I could see them doing Eurovision too.

Can definitely see Rihanna headlining very soon too but I'd love a Gaga headline set.

Fleetwood Mac are LONG OVERDUE though! A Sunday headline slot to close out the festival would be magical. Like who doesn't like FM!?

Celine Dion would be amazing also, though sadly I doubt she's still headliner material. More Sunday afternoon legends slot. Same goes for Mariah.

If she was in better health too, imagine Tina Turner rocking Glastonbury!?

This thread has made me remember how Prince was heavily rumoured to be a headliner the year he passed away and now I'm sad. Literally would/could have been the best headline set ever...

Hasn't Elton said he is coming to the end of his touring career? Glasto would be the beat way to end it
