She’s coming for Madonna as my favourite twentieth century artist
Icon  How she never took off in the UK the way she did in the U.S., I'll never know

The entire Control->Rhythm Nation 1814->janet.->The Velvet Rope->All for You series is maybe the strongest showing of five consecutive albums ever?
I'm still disappointed in myself when like three years ago I could've gone to a convention for work but chose not to bc why would I voluntarily do that, and then I found out Janet was performing in Atlantic City that weekend :(

I've had Together Again on repeat for the last few weeks, but I honestly can't say I'm that familiar with her music otherwise.

Control and Rhythm Nation (which I haven't spent much time with yet) are both just unbelievably impressive.
Control is just an perfect 'coming of age' album... literally every track is a 9 or 10, but the ones I put in the OP are perfection... blissful sounds.
And honestly the opening three tracks of Rhythm Nation are an absolutely amazing trio... tbh, the first two minutes of the album (including the opening interlude) is probably the most epic album opening I've ever heard?
She ****ing snatched at Glastonbury too!
If anyone has any similar music recommendations plsss send them my way... similar beats and synths... :dazzler:

I didn't know she was slept on... she was a huge success and icon for my generation. Rhythm Nation was like a sound track for my teens lol.
Now I know I'm old

...yeah I think she’s always been fully appreciated in some parts of the world...but for some odd reason, not quite so much here in the U.K...

YES Ammi I love you linking Miss You Much bc I think that's my fave Janet song of them all? Love the music video too except that most versions on YouTube now cut out the chair dance at the end!

Also a top Janet song for me
Started sinking my teeth into 'janet.' and I can already tell it's going to be another one in the basket from Miss Jackson for me...
That's The Way Love Goes, This Time, and Throb are the ones stuck on my brain so far. The first is honestly 90s pop-RnB bliss... This Time is wonderfully creative... and Throb sounds like something that belongs on Erotica so of course I love it
