View Full Version : BB got its worse rating last night of only 2.6 million!! (and other ratings related threads)
ITV- BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT got 6.4 million viewers
BBC1- HOW WE BUILT BRITAIN got 5 million viewers
In general, the show's ratings have been down for the past few nights and with it back to 9pm most of this week, how will the ratings be in a week's time?

Dont worry it will pick up!. On Launch night it got over 8 million viewers. Big Brother wont be beaten by any channel on tv. It always wins in the end. Just you watch.

2.6M is good. Its not its worst ratings, last year it sunk to 1M. It was never gong to beat Britains Got Talent, and they never count the viewers who watch on 4OD.

I think the show will be okay, especially after Emily's contribution.

I dont think Emily's racism is a good way to up Big Brother ratings. Racism is very serious issue and it could of got Big Brother axed. Luckily it didnt. I would of cryed loads :bawling: if it got axed because of her racist behaviour . I hope the ratings keep going up and up and ebat all the other shows to become the best tv show on tv ever .

The viewer ratings are quite important. I believe it was because
of low ratings that we have lost the Saturday BB program. If it does stay low or drop I guess we could lose more coverage. I'm not over bothered by it, but they do count for something.

Its getting poor ratings, as predicted by some - me included :pat: , because its making BB4 look like thrilling TV.
the all female launch night was a non-starter - people just switched off,
its OK gladhanding and stroking each other about who watches what and how wonderful it is but it means nothing in TV show survivability terms. I've been an avid viewer since series 1, BB4 was dreadful, and BB7 peed me off so much I stopped watching halfway through, caught a couple of highlight shows a week and watched the finale...this time I'm tuning in, but have yet to watch a show all the way through - its dull.
Ratings, schmatings ????
Poor ratings will kill this show faster than Jade Goody.
Diehard fans bigging it up regardless of how bland it is, and being blind to the fact - thats one thing, but in the real world the viewing figures are the be and end all.
Something drastic needs to happen.
I'll wager there was a meeting held with C4 and Endemol when they found out those ratings - the question what are Endemol going to do ?.
For BB7 they ripped the voting public off and put the Nikkifreak back in..
you wanted "twists", well you are going to get them, and they'll be desperate.
Funny, with a house made up of a good cross-section of HMs like some people were practically begging for before it started, me included :pat: and this problem wouldn't have happened.
I haven't been liking this show at all, and now I suspect car crash TV on the horizon.....
Whats the phrase I've been trying to avoid - oh yeah - told you so
Pity.
I recommend Tomb Raider Anniversary, problem is I've already finished it.

Yeah this week's slower than last week but we had three weeks last year of dullness so I'm sure things will pick up allthough I did watch the repeat of BGT at 11pm last night and it wasn't half bad I have to admitt :)

Ratings don't always reflect the population!
Ratings aren't always taken as fact, it is just an estimate.
How ratings work:
A number of people have blackboxes which keeps track of the programmes they are watching then they can work out the estimate for the whole country.
Myself - I don't trust ratings!

Exactly. Ratings are important to the advertisers. Low ratings and CH4 loses revenue.........
The plain fact is thus far this year it does not deserve good ratings.......
The Emily incident will only produce an upward blip in the ratings as people watch out of curiosity.......Once over the ratings will keep dipping unless worthwhile story lines develop.
It amazes me how some people think Emily is an out and out racist. I'll tell you this for free.......A racist would not want to socialise and banter with a race they hated. A racist wouild not go on a show where they full well know different races have to mix together.......The main problem is that some confuse cultural conflicts of interest with racism.......The word racism is used as carelessly as the word love and hate. Often indicated but seldom meant........

It wasn't a good way Amy, but it happened and the BB show was happy to show us the un-cut footage, including the (N) word.
It was about ratings & money.
The BB show won't be axed midway through BB8 as they are obeying rules. But, if the ratings start falling below 2 Million, the future could be different.

Was BB4 any good? Apparently it wasn't so good, so BB8 is better, right:thumbs2: The experiment must be working..
The all-female start was a decision that Endemol have made & it added a new edge to the show. Ratings were okay at that point, even when Ziggy joined.
Those who don't watch the show avidly can't make clear judgements.
Jade Goody brought great ratings, as when she plays to the cameras, as she knows what viewers want, people watch.
As BB4 & BB7 bothered you, then you must have enjoyed Jade Goody then.
Endemol always have meetings & BB will make changes & stuff. Richard Branson hasn't popped his head in yet.
The assumption that if Endemol hadn't made these decisions, (then the show would be a success) Your comment is lacking substance, just in that assumption alone.

With it being a show lasting 13 weeks, and other shows being on too, I would've thought it'd be difficult to maintain high ratings for BB every single night. Bearing in mind of course, that it is a show which depends upon the housemates and how they're getting on, the tasks, the twists, which of course vary from day to day.
Additionally, since it is the beginning of the series, viewers are probably anticipating a lot more to come, and so as time goes on I expect there will be more viewers. As I think I stated elsewhere, the fact that the show has begun on a note like this means, in my eyes, the only way for it is up. Besides, 2.6 million is still plenty of viewers despite the happenings, which probably shows that for BB there is a large number of regular viewers.

They may have to resort to some nudity if only to boost the ratings. I don't know if you have noticed but they are using the possibility of nudity to plug the show. Each night on E4 they say there might be bad language or nudity. Really its fraudulant baiting to keep those that would like a bit of flesh flashing hooked to the channel watching.
Because it has been more than obvious for the past two years that they are deliberately censoring out even the slightest trace of nudity and that is in spite of the fact they would not be breaking any of Ofcoms regulations providing it was after 10pm.......I can only conclude that BB is now produced by some religious control freaks....Beyers buddies perhaps.......

BB4 was dire, so is BB8
The ratings were good on launch night- they always are, then once the all-female line up was introduced people started tuning out, I speak from what I hear in the real world from word of mouth - the ratings appear to be in agreement
You don't have to watch every minute of every show to recognise rubbish when its presented to you
Jade Goody has had her 15 minutes - bye bye to bad rubbish
Jade Goodys ruined Cbb5 and because of her revealing who she really is and has forced Endemol and C4into presenting a hamstrung version of BB
If you think Richard bransons appearance, if it actually happens, is going to be a ratings winner then you are vastly mistaken - the guy is rich, he owns Virgin media but an appearance on BB would be nothing to him unless he wants to confirm he's a clown
My comment in this and other posts is assumption based upon observance - just like every post of yours, no matter how you like to intimate differently

BB4 was dire, "So we hear", BB8 has miles to go yet & ratings can go either way. That is obvious.
Launch Night is always busy with ratings, just like you say. However, ratings always dip afterwards & unless you can give us a bar-chart or something, from BB1 to the present BB8 it is difficult to take your assumption seriously:laugh:
Whether the house is full of females or not, is neither-here-nor-there
Real-world & word-of-mouth is still not enough. Facts are better:bigsmile:
Watching every minute can certainly bring volumes of enjoyment. If bits & pieces are watched only, it can make any judgement, (not-right)
Jade Goody had longer than 15 minutes. Much longer & the memory of her presence shall live onwards you'know, but some assume she is a racist???
Jade Goody brought massive ratings to CBB5 & mass enjoyment too. Danielle Lloyd & Jo O'Meara musn't be forgotten either. They hardly ruined the show, that was Endemol & bad editing & displaying offensive material
Richard Branson may give the housemates the ultimate task & a worthy prize too. Richard doesn't do things by half measures you know:wink:
I state facts & very good assumptions which 95% become facts as time progresses.
My avatar is not just a pretty face, you'know:laugh::laugh:

BB was never going to stand up to Britain's Got Talent, but thankfully, BGT is only on for a week or so, ratings should spike once that's over. I also have to agree, the majority of this series has been dull, there's nothing interesting about the group, most of the housemates are dull as dishwater, and they haven't bothered with tasks yet.

Running BB8 at 9.00 pm rather than 10.00 pm is a ridiculous mistake.
The switch to 9pm didn't bode well on Monday night, as Big Brother was beaten by Britain's Got Talent on ITV1 and a repeat showing of New Tricks.
The Simon Cowell talent show averaged 6.9 million viewers.
The ITV1 show also beat a New Tricks repeat on BBC1, with 5.2 million viewers,
Big Brother could only manage 2.6 million viewers, an 11% share.

Also at 9pm they have to limit the amount of bad language so we don't get real reality in a 9pm time slot........An adult format like BB should always have a 10pm or later slot so that reality can be shown in its proper context....
