This has been brought up in the Circumcision thread a couple of times and I thought it deserved it's own discussion.

so OK or not OK?

Personally, I can't believe it's legal. I think maybe 8 up where the child can make their own choice on it is OK, but not on a little baby or toddler who have no interest in being hurt for the sake of their parents vanity

When i got mine done as a kid,No jewellers would do it unless you were 14 i think it was.
I think that’s a good age.
So no to babies for me.
It should be down to the kid when they’re old enough.

Don’t like them, not only is it cruel I think, but it looks cheap, it’s not for the babies, it’s for their parents to show off their kids as accessories

Shocking practice to please Mothers not the baby, let them decide when they are old enough

I’m okay with them. Both my siblings and myself have had ear piercings from when we were younger so never really had a problem with them or had a problem with any other kid having them. None of us cried either according to our mum so I don’t really see the torture aspect of it

My daughter had hers done at 8 at her own insistence - like I said in the other thread, I can't fathom how it's legal to have it done on kids too young to speak, let alone express a desire to have it done :umm2:.

I mean, I'm pretty sure if I stuck a needle through my kids ear at home when they were a toddler I'd be locked up for assault / abuse? I'm not sure why it's suddenly OK so long as you get it done at Claire's Accessories .
