TiBB Music Festival: Pittsburgh 01
20 & 24 August 2019
Official Wikia: Click Here! (https://channel-tibb.fandom.com/wiki/TiBB_Music_Festival_01)
It is time to let the competition begin again! I, with Shaun's knowledge AND Riley's (Wizard) lovely ideas, decided to create a spiritual successor to TiBB Eurovision. Cut to now, and welcome to the TiBB Music Festival! What songs will be heard? Where are the constant translations into French? When will the madness end? No idea.
FORMAT
The format of the TiBB Music Festival will remain similar to TiBB Eurovision, however, there are some changes. For the first time, I will have a Spotify playlist of all of the songs for you to listen to the songs during the 4 day voting period. For the voting, there will also be 2 sets of points (just like TiBB Eurovision), however, everyone will be sending 2 sets of 1-8, 10, and 12 points (one for jury voting, one for televoting).
RULES
- If you want to take part, reply to this thread with the country you want! But please, if you do reserve a country, I expect an entry.
- In a change from TiBB Eurovision, participants can now choose a song that is already in the public database (look on Spotify or YouTube, there are plenty of songs on either one).
- Lyrics, an artist name, song title AND music video are all that's required.
- Members may only represent one country.
- Entries must be submitted to me as soon as possible. The event itself will take place on a Tuesday evening and the results will follow on a Saturday of the same week.
- And for the first time since Globalvision, countries that are not in Europe or Australia will be able to participate.
You have as much time as you need to find your entries. Please find songs that we all may enjoy, and please don't feel afraid to take part The more entries, the more fun it is to run. Songs can be about anything you like, and whilst we are fairly liberal with what is deemed "in good taste" obviously a song containing 30 different death threats may well find itself lost in my inbox and doomed never to enter.
The winner of this glorious festivity shall also receive a supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics this lovely little award (which has been potentially lost in the TiBB Admin towers)! https://i.imgur.com/pCZ1tmH.png - so if that isn't motivation to bring your A-game, I don't know what is.
Before this thread was posted, I selected 5 different songs and 5 different countries from a personal shortlist of 26 songs. These countries will be listed below, and all of the countries mentioned below will be free game (sans Denmark, because some things never change with me).

Josiah.
08-08-2019, 07:30 PM
So far, 3 countries and their songs and artists have been chosen.
Cherie
08-08-2019, 08:04 PM
Ireland please, so I don't need to do anything, am I reading this right?
Calderyon
08-08-2019, 08:06 PM
You don't have to do anything other than participate?
I'll request for USA then, please.
Josiah.
09-08-2019, 12:47 AM
Calderyon, the songs for Canada, Denmark (me), Ireland (Cherie), United Kingdom (Alf), and United Kingdom (you) were selected before I made the thread. Everyone else who chooses a country has to send in a song that is already in the public database.
Kate!
09-08-2019, 03:20 AM
Canada please then.
...I’ll go to Mexico please, Josiah.....
Josiah.
09-08-2019, 02:53 PM
If no one saw it in the OP, unless you are participating as Canada, Denmark, Ireland, the UK, or the US, you do not have to create a parody to submit. You can find a song (fairly new or somewhat well known) either on Spotify and/or YouTube.
...so I just choose any song, Josiah...and send it to you as it is...?...
Josiah.
10-08-2019, 03:56 PM

As stated in the OP for those that may be confused with what songs to submit: "In a change from TiBB Eurovision, participants can now choose a song that is already in the public database (look on Spotify or YouTube, there are plenty of songs on either one)."

10-08-2019, 06:14 PM
Do songs have to be by artists from the country we choose?
Josiah.
10-08-2019, 06:20 PM
Liam, they don't, but I'd encourage it.
Liam-
10-08-2019, 07:20 PM
I’ll take France
Josiah.
10-08-2019, 08:17 PM
That now makes 11 countries chosen so far.
Josiah.
10-08-2019, 10:58 PM
I have finalised the dates as 20 August for the Final, and 24 August for the voting results.
....hmmm if it’s recommended to have the artist from the chosen country..?...then can I change to Norway please, Josiah...I did have a song chosen for Mexico but it was non Mexican related ....
Josiah.
11-08-2019, 03:24 PM
Successfully changed.
Josiah.
12-08-2019, 02:42 AM
By Tuesday at 12:00am, it'll be one week before we officially begin the fun.
Successfully changed.
...thank you Josiah.....I’ll get the song to you in the next few days...
Josiah.
13-08-2019, 01:32 AM
For people who have chosen countries that do not have any songs, you have 1 week to submit your songs.
Josiah.
14-08-2019, 12:14 AM

But you told Riley that you could enter up until Tuesday?
I love how you use my idea for this I sent you and Sean when Eurovision was over, didn’t acknowledge it, use it then don’t even let me participate.
Wizard.
20-08-2019, 06:59 AM
I wasn’t even going to mention it but now I’m feeling like a petty bitch
Josiah.
20-08-2019, 12:26 PM
Riley, I hate this, but there's really no time or place on this forum to be petty; especially when there are only less than 8 hours until the video gets posted (plus I work from 2p-7p GMT today).
I'm so confused, the OP says "[Josiah], with Shaun's knowledge", created the spiritual successor, yet Wizard's gave a screenshot to show that it was his idea?
You also did say RileyH had until tomorrow to submit his song. Would it not have been more appropriate to give a strict deadline to avoid this problem and confusion?
Really don't want to make this my business but just an observation. It does seem unfair that Wizard hasn't at least got credit. That much can be done, surely?

At the same time this thread has been bumped everyday for about 2 weeks why did he decide to say he wanted to enter after Josiah said he has everything ready to go?

Are you referring to, "I put all the songs in one big video"? Because it's not exactly "everything is ready to go". I would've imagined songs would've been added as time went along, not at the end, but that's just my thought process. There was no explicit "sign-ups are closed" especially since it was implied that people had until the 19th at the earliest to submit a song, and Wizard asked 8am-ish 19th August, which is pretty early for the early deadline imo (especially since that was very early morning in the USA)
I also like to imagine Wizard isn't checking the forum daily and it doesn't help for every post on this thread there's ten michael21 threads burying it

To be fair Josiah has said Riley can play season 2 although I do think Riley deserves credit.
I wouldn't be willing to make changes with less than 24hours left either.
Wizard.

Riley, I hate this, but there's really no time or place on this forum to be petty; especially when there are only less than 8 hours until the video gets posted (plus I work from 2p-7p GMT today).
You said RileyH could have until Tuesday, but whatever. If I was THAT busy (which I am) I wouldn't go hosting a game/event if I didn't think I could run it properly. Realistically it would take you 10 minutes MAX to cut and paste a 30-second clip into the video.
You're always complaining about not having enough people but then you out and out reject someone for wanting to participate smh
I'm so confused, the OP says "[Josiah], with Shaun's knowledge", created the spiritual successor, yet Wizard's gave a screenshot to show that it was his idea?

I don't own the concept but the fact that I messaged that in April and didn't even get a reply :inamood: was just trying to be NICE!
At the same time this thread has been bumped everyday for about 2 weeks why did he decide to say he wanted to enter after Josiah said he has everything ready to go?
Because I've barely been online and posted as soon as I saw this thread for the first time cause I was actually excited about it.
I also like to imagine Wizard isn't checking the forum daily and it doesn't help for every post on this thread there's ten michael21 threads burying it

I do think it's a bit tight that you sent that message, got no reply and now this is running with zero acknowledgement to you though so I understand the frustration.
Riley can have my spot, if that's possible? I don't mind. I think I'm United Kingdom. I don't even know how this game works.

my Ghana jury members are
Abraham Attah - award winning child actor
Wendy Shay - Afropop and Afrobeat singer
Teddy Osei - veteran afromusic singer, founder of Osasiba (which has its 50th anniversary this year)
Strongman K - recording artist and songwriter/producer
DJ Mensah - DJ, Entrepeneur, recording artist (Head of Ghana Jury)

From all countries that have voted so far (Brazil, Denmark, and Ghana), I received only the jury points from Ghana, so if I could receive the Ghanaian televoting points.
...I watched the vid again...it really is wonderfully put together, Josiah...the voting is very harsh because there will only be one song that no points can be given for...we can only vote for 10 of the 11 songs that aren’t our own..?...

Either way is fine Riley.

The scoring was hard
Josiah.
22-08-2019, 01:07 AM
The voting getting even more interesting. Again, no nul points to be seen.
The country currently placing last in the jury voting has 4 points, and the country currently placing last in the televoting has 6 points.
Remember, even if you did not choose a country or a song; you can still send in your 2 sets of points.
Josiah.

After a quick google, I see it happens monthly. This forum is simply not active enough for it to happen monthly. Josiah got less than 20 participants for this one (although now people know how it works they’ll be likelier to compete, I know I will) but there’s simply not enough active members to warrant this happening monthly unfortunately.

and it isn't just a eurovision game (only voting format is similar to that), anyone on the forum here can compete, with music they like, and as it's with countries from around the world, it's also a good way for people here to get to know artists from lots of countries whose music is for now kinda unknown
i can speak out of experience, since in fan contests i played, i've seen artists pop by who i never heard of before those contests, and i ended up liking several of them

Yeah I did like that part of it, much easier than having to write a song definitley.
I was just unsure if the format, so I wanted to see how it worked first before signing up and committing.
Josiah.
22-08-2019, 11:48 AM
No, I am not planning on doing this monthly. That would take too much time. After these first 2 editions, we'll be back to the old TIBB Eurovision dates of May/June and December.

Do you think there’s going to be a runaway winner?
Josiah.
22-08-2019, 08:55 PM
Yes, because the points video won't take that much time to make anyway.
Josiah.
23-08-2019, 04:27 AM
Actually, there are 2 countries that are runaways in the top 2 and they're currently separated by 8 points.
Good luck to everyone and keep voting. It's weird not receiving votes from people not participating.
Josiah.

Do I have to vote?
Josiah.
23-08-2019, 09:42 PM
A little over half of the countries (7 out of 12) have voted so far. If I could have everyone's votes by 6:00pm GMT (7:00pm BST) tomorrow.
If all votes are not in by 7pm BST tomorrow, the 5 countries that have not voted will have their jury points and televoting points be aggregated results (average of the votes from other countries).
Josiah.
23-08-2019, 09:43 PM
Yes Amy, yes you do.
Josiah.
24-08-2019, 01:29 AM
Ladies and gents, there are 16 hours and 30 minutes until voting closes.
Josiah.
24-08-2019, 01:30 PM
4 and a half hours left to vote. The voting is getting even tighter now that Australia's voted.
Josiah.
24-08-2019, 03:59 PM
Since I am most likely not going to receive any more votes between now and 7pm, I have resorted to using aggregated results for both sets of points from Barbados, Canada, and the US.

What does that mean?
Josiah.
24-08-2019, 04:18 PM
I took averages of the points of each country that have good relations or are in close proximity to said countries. So for example, the UK's points were based on the points of Ireland, Denmark, and Norway.

About 20 minutes left to vote... and I really do not want to have to replace Kate's votes, Alf's votes, and Calderyon's votes with aggregated results (just think back to ESC 2019 and Belarus's jury votes in the final... after the vote correction).
If you don't want to, do you have to?
Josiah.

TiBB, STOP VOTING NOW!
Voting is now officially closed and the results will be presented in an hour's time. Good luck everyone.

For this first edition, I initially wasn't much. But to see the amount of people that did participate, it's fantastic. A HUGE thank you to Riley (Wizard) for coming up with the idea, and thank you all for helping me make it a reality.

I didn't fare too badly I suppose
Did I finish 4th? I didn't even do anything, I didn't choose a song, I didn't vote. My song was awful, and was easily the worst of the lot.
Strange game to me, I didn't get it at all. But I do admire the way you put the video parts together.
Josiah.
