good job for our dutch teams in Europa league so far, 3 out of 4 in play offs, last qualifying round before group stage

also luxembourgish Dudelange (sensation last year in Europa league making the group stage back then) again on course to make group stage, also in play offs now against Ararat from Armenia

Ajax in play offs champions league vs Apoel Nicosia, last 2 matches in a attempt to make it through group stage

Qualifier (Round of 16) predictions:

A: Paris SG and Real Madrid
B: Bayern and Tottenham
C: Man City and Shakhtar Donetsk
D : Juventus and Athletico Madrid
E: Liverpool and Napoli
F: Barcelona and Inter Milan
G: Leipzig and Lyon
H: Chelsea and Valencia

Should be a relatively easy qualification there.

Shaun

D, G and H should be the most open groups, could easily see any of them qualifying and it should be very close.

Kind draws for Liverpool and City... Chelsea will struggle, and Spurs have two tough opponents and one free pass.

Poor Slavia Praha. That's a tough group to end up in.

I almost feel like they should be given a 3 point head start as they're so out of their depth in that group.:joker:

But maybe I'm being harsh and they can Leicester the group.

We're not playing well and havent done for about a year. One or two defeats can be down to players but when a team hasnt played well for so long then its on the manager.

Emery cant justify the way the treats Ozil as opposed to Xhaka. Two flawed players but one isnt even in the match day line up while the others plays every minute of every big game. These head scratching decisions will ultimately get him the sack

GiRTh
24-10-2019, 09:05 PM
On the forums the Ozil fans are crawling out of the woodwork. When he's stinking up every game you never hear from them, but when we play poorly and he's not even a sub then they suddenly got something to say about it. Emery's gonna find out Ozil still as alot of fans.

Wouldnt be surprised if, this time next year, Ozil was still there but Emery wasnt.

Ex-Spurs man Marcus Edwards does the damage with his good run and cross from the right and, after Arsenal fail to clear it, Bruno Duarte acrobatically equalises.

I'm dreading Leicester on Sunday. I'll probably be watching from the behind the sofa. We're gonna get proper turned over and it'll seal Emerys fate.

How did we get this joker? How did he get his reputation? He's the most clueless manager I've seen for years. Plays players out of position, snubs talent in favour of mediocrity and tactically is way over thinking his formations. The only thing that could possibly save him is to go and get someone like Koulibaly in January and hope he has a similar effect on the team like VVD has had at Liverpool, but I dont want to wait that long. Ceballos sounds a lot like Shaun Wright-Phillips.:laugh:If Emery knew what he was doing then maybe you're right but he doesnt, he's clueless. We're gonna lose.

We need to get him out before he does too much damage. Lacazette and Aubameyangs contract need extending and I doubt they'll sign if Emery is still around. They can both see this team has no chance of getting top four and Champions league football.

I can see why Real Madrid signed Ceballos and also why he cant get into the team. He's all touch and trick and flick and fancy dribbles with little end product. You can see players making run and space opening up but he's still flicking and touching and dribbling. He's frustrating to watch.

They need a long term plan and not just a quick decision.

Look at Liverpool for instance, Klopp said he wanted to take time off after leaving Dortmund so Liverpool purposely waiting 3 months to sack Rodgers then made a long term offer to Klopp that he couldn't refuse.

You need a manager who has a plan and who will deliver it.

True about him coming straight out of South America it might be a culture shock but equally the pressure over their is probably even bigger than in Europe, and there are quite a few success stories with Argentine managers in Europe but again, Simeone is a Spanish speaker and Poch started out in La Liga so it’d be a gamble

Klopp wasnt doing too good till he signed VVD. Lets always establish that when you eulogise about him. I remember the Lovren Gonez center back partnership. :yuk:

We not going to attract a huge name like Allegri, I doubt Poch will come so Arteta for me. He'd be given time due to his inexperience. I heard on a TIFO sports podcast that City are gonna hand him the job when Pep quits - estimated to be around this time next year or 2021 at the latest. He's taken full control of the City squad for at least one Champions league match when Pep was banned and in the stand and he took control when they beat a Wenger managed team two years ago Peps happy with him and has recommenced he take over. He's going to be a good manager I just hope its with us.

I’m not even sure Allegri’s even that good, failed at Milan then fell on his feet with Juventus being miles better than everyone else, but I don’t really pay attention to Italian football muchHe's also hinted he's waiting out Man Utd to sack OGS. I'd go for him in a shot, he'd sort the defense out.

Eddie Howe would fail instantly at any club that needs success straight away, he’d need at least a couple of seasons to build a club up and even then I have my doubts that’s he anything but a mid table low expectations manager

and Sean Dyche...well that’s just never going to happen

Klopp knew he needed a world class CB but he waited along time to get VVD

I dont think Arteta Is the right man for the style the club has played in for many years and for him to get to the style he wants a lot of the first team will need to be replaced
Arteta's a gamble for sure, but he'd be given time too. It'd take about two years for him to implement his style of play.

If we went for someone like Koulibaly in January it'd solve alot of problems. It'd be about 100 million and Arsenal would never sanction it. So we're stuck.

EDIT: And we dont a have a Coutinho we can sell to Barca for 100 million so we're stuck

I used to enjoy the Champions league when it was on ITV. Who could forget the year 1999 and the magical journey we went on with that great Manchester United team? We were all Manchester United fans that year (except for the bitter Liverpool fans)

Since it left ITV, I've had absolutely zero interest in the competition anymore.

I blame the people that pay for BT sports. If they didn't pay for it, the Champions league would still be free to watch on our telly's.
