The 1975‘s Matty Healy kissed a male fan during a show in Dubai last night, defying strict anti-LGBTQ laws in the Arab state.

As the band performed their first show in Dubai, Healy left the stage during ‘Loving Someone’ and kissed the male fan after he had asked the singer to marry him.

Following this, Dubai Police are currently looking for the man who Matty kissed, and he could be facing up to 10 years in prison, or death penalty.

I’d agree, but from what I can see the band had to leave Dubai immediately as authorities came to them first, so I don’t know how much they can actually do, and they’ve most likely been banned from returning.

His dad, Tim, has since clarified Matty was showing his support for gay rights in Dubai. It’s a tough situation though, because he’d have known the consequesces and now endangered someone innocent.
