I used to think this when I was younger but I think there’s just too many ditsy-types in comedies now that she’s kind of lost her value.

She has more value since she replaced the ditzy with bitchy. :clap1:

Janice.

Monica out of the main cast.

Janice is among the worst characters on TV ever.

Monica becomes the worst of the six main characters.

Chandler -> Joey -> Phoebe -> Ross -> Rachel -> Monica.

Joey, Phoebe and Ross change their order/placements from time to time.

And like, not even in some weird awful-but-complex-and-compelling way

Pretty much every character in the series becomes defined by their archetype and their personalities become exaggerated but Ross' obsessive and controlling behaviour becomes toxic and unbearable and he's not held accountable for his actions

Not saying everyone can be redeemed from such toxic behaviour but it'd have at least been nice to have seen Ross held accountable for his awful behaviour but the most he was held accountable for is when Phoebe noticed how Carol "messed him up" and how she "made" him obsessive and controlling

And that was years before he became irredeemabe. Before he lied about a divorce to trick Rachel onto staying married to him. Before he slept with his student. Before he tried to **** his cousin

How he spiralled into the toxic mess he was in the later seasons is understandable but it meant he lost his Season 1 and 2 charm when he was a good guy with good intentions. Whenever Ross was on screen I would just crease and think of how they could've developed him and let him heal rather than allowing him to be an awful person... and it feels like all the friends/everyone didn't mind how awful he became and didn't hold him accountable and that just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth

TL:Dr I really think Ross would've been better of he was held accountable for his actions and tried to make a change, get professional help maybe. I just don't feel like Ross carried anything especially when his only notable storyline is his fatherhood with Emma when really that storyline just developed Rachel further and one of the main points in their parenthood was Ross hiding the guy from the bar's message from her out of jealousy. Like it was always moments like that which just felt cruel. Him accepting Rachel and Joey's relationship (despite how uncomfortable he is) was a good part of his character and made him somewhat likeable but a few glimmering moments don't make up for how awful he is for me and I also REALLY don't like how he was pretty much the only one who didn't grow or heal from his past

I don't fully agree with this but it does sum up a lot :clap1:.
