My early favourites, apropos of very little, are Alice, Priya, Helena, David and Henry, and I'm sure it's a testament to the glorious middle-classness of this show that the majority of those people have a line to the effect of "they just happened to learn to bake while backpacking throiugh New Zealand/Malawi/Las Vegas" in their bios

Enjoyed a strong first week watching Great British Bake Off (https://screenbinge.com/tv-shows/watch-great-british-bake-off/). The challenges seemed reasonable, and the time limit is also generous compared to the previous series. But for God's sake did they find so many bakers who don't know how to do a simple Genoise? That is the same as baking 101 for GBBO!
