Yep, B*n F**w is at it again, and he's still as delusional and useless as ever.

Channel 5 boss: Big Brother money didn’t go as far as I would have liked

Channel 5 boss Ben Frow has said the money he saved by axing Big Brother did not go as far as he would have liked.

Mr Frow, director of programmes at the broadcaster, called time on the long-running reality show last year amid a ratings slump.

He told the Edinburgh TV Festival he had felt a sense of “liberation” but that part of the money saved by the move “went to the bottom line”.

“We decided to put more money into drama. I think we have been a bit more ambitious with our factual programmes. We can be so much more luxuriating with the budget we can be spending on people.

“But the money from Big Brother didn’t go as far as I would have liked it to have gone, truth be told. We had something like 220,000 hours of television to fill.”

The programme – which saw housemates live together in a custom-built home for weeks without access to the outside world in a bid to win a cash prize – started in 2000 on Channel 4 and Channel 5 took over in 2011.

Mr Frow said he had no plans to revive the show as it did not fit with Channel 5’s current image.

He said: “Nothing is ever dead forever, you know, but I have no plans to bring it back.”

He added: “I think I was very open about the fact that I thought it was time to lose Big Brother from the channel. It was a very expensive programme.

“It was like a liberation. It was a very expensive show but also it had had its day.

“Don’t get me wrong. It was an incredibly valuable programme at one time but it no longer was. Everything is cyclical.

“In terms of our reputation, in terms of our schedule, in terms of us trying new things, in terms of our evolution, it is important that we face the future without something that was taking up 17 weeks of the year.”

Once again, the egg-headed swine is talking more nonsense about his ****hole channel post-BB. Really, Channel 5 should be renamed to "Channel Fail" as the channel has been a complete and utter failure under his control since he stupidly axed BB.

The 16-34s have declined rapidly, his so-called "original content" is a load of old rubbish, especially the reality crap (The Bachelor UK flopped miserably and Celebs on the Farm is now on 5* instead of C5) and the @RealityOn5 (Formerly @BBUK) social media handles haven't been updated since March/April and the only people who watch his channel nowadays are middle-aged housewives and OAPs as the channel is completely irrelevant now and the only things on there are endless Jane McDonald shows, rubbish compilation shows and an overload of documentaries, particularly about trains.

Trust me, even I would be a better director of programmes than that incompetent bellend. Hopefully C5 continues to flop as long as he's in charge.

Not really delusional.

The show cost a fortune.... nobody cared about it anymore so it didn't make enough money in return.

I get he's a bit of an arse but the overreaction from some is ridiculous.

The show has had its day, he was right to axe it.

Also, yes, channel 5 is irrelevant and a big flop of a channel. But let's not pretend BB/CBB made it relevant. It didn't.

But the channel has been even more irrelevant since the day he axed it and literally everyone in the BB fandom HATES him.

To summarise:
-16-34s are down a lot
-Their reality stuff post-BB has flopped (e.g. The Bachelor UK rated even less than BB19 ffs)
-The RealityOn5 accounts haven't been updated in months
-Their so-called "Original Content" isn't really original (countless re-runs of Friends, Train documentaries, Jane McDonald shows, Secret World of... shows, Britain's Favourite... shows etc.)
-The channel is only watched by people aged 40+ (can't see any youngsters watching any of the shows mentioned above)

With all that being said, If I was the director of programmes of C5, I would have kept BB on and not wasted money on a load of reality junk that nobody is going to watch like Make or Break, The Bachelor UK and Undercover Girlfriends.

None of this makes BB relevant.

None of this makes the cost of BB a good business decision.

Considering your extensive knowledge of the state of their line up, they haven't lost you as a viewer.

They've never called re-runs of Friends "original content". The original content is stuff they've never done before, which is their own drama series such as the one that starred Catherine Tyldsley.

And Catherine would never have been cast if they didn't give her Emma's pay packet. :clap1:

Whilst I agree that Frow is a bit of a dick, lets be honest, Big Brother was a rotting corpse when they bought it and C5 was the embalming fluid.

Tbf I think he's admitting they DO have that reputation. Hence axing stuff like BB and investing more in drama.

I also feel like Channel 5s programmes/documentaries were better whilst BB was airing. I liked the benefits ones, celebrity wedding planner was a bit of a scream and the autopsies were good - Whitney houstons one was incredible

Tea, they’re all about trains and stuff now lmao.

I agree with people saying it was time for BB to go, but that was the fault of Channel 5 itself, who interfered with the production too much and milked it to death

They didn't destroy it. Just got more zany. They knew when to call it a day and the show always (bar one or two minor moments) stuck to its BB roots.

With C5, any and all BB rules were left behind.

The worst C4 did was to ruin a series or part-series with a bad production decision, C5 actually tore the franchise apart.
