80 years ago today, Timely Publications released the first issue of Marvel Comics,

It featured the first appearances of the original Human Torch, the original Angel, and Namor the Sub-Mariner, as well as the first comic book appearance of the original Ka-Zar, and kicked off a company that would become one of the two titans of the industry. And so a legend was born.
