My mum just got one of those cameras installed on the door so you can see who is knocking, literally installed today. Basically because a few weeks ago the front door had been tampered with while everyone was in work.
Anyway it keeps giving me notifications to my phone that somebody is outside the door but the video isnt working for me. Opened it once to check and it's quiet but it goes off every 15 to 30 minutes and it's been going on since about half 9ish. I'm literally waiting for my boyfriend to come after work but I'm actually a bit freaked out :worry:

Yeah Id be scared too Amy. The thing is these things can be quite sensitive. It may be there is a cat or fox outside. But keep by a phone just in case and if you need a chat I'm here
I may be wrong....but the notifications could be the signal from both devices dropping out from connecting with eachother ...phone the police though...at least it's on record then.

This is why I won't get one of these, I'd be too scared of looking who's there if it was really late/middle of the night :skull:

Hope it's that then. Not even sure how it works, my step dad said it will notify of motion detected and then you click and it shows the video but there is no video it's just black screen.
Sounds as if it's not been set up right

Do you have a security light or a pee hole in you door maybe lock the door just to be safe

Doesn't work then. ..send it back..
And also wait on the other half ..it's probably nothing, but you can't be careless these days.
You will find its just another thing to worry about on the end.:joker:...
Unless they have some device that blocks the signal
..yep..definatly phone the police imo...

The first year me and my wife were married we heard a guy outside in the middle of the night i looked out the window and a guy in a hoodie was there. I turned on my light to try and scare him away and we rang the police it just kept ringing for ages and it put us through to a police station miles and miles away they told us off and said we rang the wrong place even though we only rang 999 it was our local police force fault for not answering. I was shouting down the phone to the woman that I think the man is about to get in but she kept telling me off for ringing the wrong place. Eventually I rang my dad and bro in law they came quick sharp by then the guy had gone anyway. The police came an hour after that rolling their eyes at us
So yeah prob best to ring a close family member that lives near you

These devices can be very sensitive. Some even trigger if the sun goes dull to bright.
I have a cam on my driveway and a bird can set it off. It may also be a setting that is providing an update on an interval basis ... like every 15 mins

This sounds like the start of an urban myth.
Where Amy's boyfriend comes home to find... it wasn't Amy texting him... :worry:
Sounds as if it's not been set up right

...yeah it could be in the set up or that it needs adjusting in some way for its sensitivity...do you or your mum know anyone who could take a look at it today to see if it’s all set up okay..?...really scary, though.....

My boyfriend thinks it could have been a cat or even the stupid thing catching people walking past (I left the gates open for him to park) still freaked me out last night though

Yeah I guess these things are like sensor lights the slightest thing triggers them, you would think they would be set to only notify when something of a reasonable size approaches the door, gives a whole new meaning to cat burglar, even if you did have the video it wouldn't have helped I don't think.
Getting notifications to my phone would freak me as well though
