"He revealed that afterwards he was
'threatened by people who said they
would give away my secret',
who he feared would 'use it as a weapon'
against him and his family."

["The 45-year-old became the first
UK sportsman to disclose he has
the virus during an interview with
the Sunday Mirror - before revealing
in a video on his Twitter page that he
had been "forced" to make the admission.
"I've been threatened by people who said
they would give away my secret.
It's sick and I've been through hell," he told the paper.
"I was being blackmailed and in my mind I
thought you only get
blackmailed for something really bad,
which compounded the feeling of shame."]

Really sad he has to feel this way.

Yet there's still people who think there's no prejudice or negatives now as to this.

Shocking anyone is made to feel as he has been made to.

..Gareth.....I don’t know what satisfaction anyone would get from threatening such a thing, there are some grim people...

Gareth  one of my favourite dancing on ice contestants, loved his iconic rugby on ice moment to that song hall of fame

those threats make me sick honestly, especially for a personal life issue as having HIV, sorry but these people who made those threats have no rights to blackmail someone

Its really poor that he has to go public with a private diagnosis, I wonder if it was an ex partner or someone working in the clinic where he is being treated, he should out them whoever they are, I guess they wanted cash for silence.

Awful that he felt he had to make public his health issues.
Great respect for Gareth, the way he has handled his life.
Nobody should be made to feel guilty or ashamed in any way for having HIV.
It really shows such ignorance and prejudice :fist:
