They filmed the USA pilot for the Question Jury in the UK, they casted American (accented) people to be filmed on the set here, and it would be broadcast over there.

They had a fully-equipped studio and apartments here so financially it makes sense in the event the show isn't renewed. Why would Netflix pay for three studio spaces when they can use one?
