Its a Grade 2 Listed building (From the 1850's)
it started in the Basement
a loud bang , so "could be" a Gas Supply
line not protected proper in the Basement?
People from the Hotel
are lucky other Hotels put them up.
Of course paid by the Claremont
The Fire got bigger due
the Strong Winds
and the Fire Crew go extra water pumped from the Sea.
...thank the Lord, no injuries...but devastating to see the building destroyed......and a listed building will take much longer to rebuild...

The Shell of the hotel is Standing
but there is a Gas main alight still
below the ground floor.
All around the hotel The Gas Vans are now digging up the roads
trying to cut the gas off.
The Fire Chief says it's ok to leave the Gas main
on fire as it ,
is the only on the pipe break
under the Hotel Ground Floor that is alight.
