Christian Serratos will star as legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla on Selena: The Series. Coming to Netflix in 2020.

Selena: The Series is a coming of age story that follows Selena Quintanilla as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.

Love me some Selena (RIP), looking forward to this. Hopefully it's not just the same as the JLo movie though.

For those of y'all unfamiliar with Selena, she was a Latin singer who was basically on the cusp of world super stardom after successfully "crossing over" to mainstream English music in the mid-90's being the first Latin singer ever to score a US #1 album, but was shot and killed by the leader of her own official fanclub and manager of other Selena outlets after confronting her over claims she was stealing/embezzling from her.

Very sad.

Jennifer Lopez starred in a biopic about Selena in the late 90's which is a really good movie and had many awards.

...oh I know Selena’s story, she was very talented...I didn’t realise there was a series, I’ll try to find time to watch it...

She was, brilliant popstar who should have been much, much more successful. Coming next year Ammi! :hee:

That "fan" sounds horrible.

After Bohemian Rhapsody and Darkest Hour, I am in a real mood for Biographical Movies so I might check that Selena Movie out at some point.

It's sad to know though that in any of these versions that she will have a really tragic ending, some people are really evil imo.

...oh I’ll look out for it next year, thank you LaLa...her story is fascinating and tragic...it’s crazy to think also that, as her story is being told in this way..her killer... Yolanda Saldivar, must potentially be due for release in the next few years..?..

I hope the series is good and does justice to her. I love Selena even if I didn't understand most of her songs, and she definitely was taken away from us too soon...
