View Full Version : Ruiz v Joshua..
The champion Ruiz, a Mexican who won the belts fair and square from Joshua in the last fight. A fight the Ruiz was a late replacement for someone else..
The rematch is being held in Saudi Arabia. ..the beheading capital of the world. ..a Mexican fighter, with the background and easily available video footage of Mexico beheading videos....
Seems strange to me...
So my question is, why would a world champion from Mexico find it easy to stage a match in Saudi Arabia when it's never happened before.

I was going to say I hope AJ wins but I think Ruiz will but that isn't the question? What are you asking exactly? Is it ethical to fight in Saudi Arabia?

I think it's how come a Mexican fighter can just randomly set up a fight in Saudi Arabia. ..obviously they spent the cash...but it's obviously been sanctioned by a wave of the hand..
2 powerful cash countries...best pals all of a sudden..That's basically it.

He never set up anything it was down a rematch clause written into the first fight , he didn’t want to go there, but was given reassurances and more money.

Yeah agree with Sheriff, Ruiz set up nothing, Eddie Hearn did, lots of Dolla's in Saudi
Why Saudi though?
Mexico/saudi/Britain. .
It's wierd..

I get that, and it is the probable outcome..
But from another angle..Eddie hearn. .a wee laddie that used to rack up snooker balls..can set up a fight in Saudi Arabia for the opponent of his fighter (important)

Ruiz signed a contract when he was given the opportunity to fight Joshua in that contract there was clauses that he would have to give aj a rematch how much money he would get and the venue.
Eddie Hearn is an agent, he was approached by Saudi Arabia who no doubt put a multi million pound offer on the table.

There was talk of Katie Taylor fighting on the undercard and people were getting annoyed about it because they were saying, as a woman she shouldn't fight in a country where women's rights are so low. It was only a rumour though anyway and she isn't fighting there

It’s purley about money and power.

The cash that's been poured in to get sport to Saudi. Money definitely does talk.
I don’t understand why Ruiz ( the champion holding the belts ) gets £10 million whilst the challenger ( loser ) Joshua picks up £45 million !?!
Makes no sense ..

Yeah same but I do hope AJ surprises me. Did you see the weigh in's? Ruiz is a stone heavier and AJ is lighter (which I think is a good move on his part)
Hopefully it’s wrong or maybe the extra weight is muscle not more fat ??

Crap boring fightOh that's so wrong though, it was such a clever fight and shows how much AJ changed his mind set, his body and his attitude in order to be able to beat him. I love watching a rematch when originally one person under estimates the strength and stamina of the other and then comes back with a really good game plan that they manage to stick to the whole way through. Eventhough I dont like Conor McGregor anymore this fight reminded me of when he beat Nate Diaz 2nd time round who was imo the better fighter with just an amazing game plan

You don’t win a boxing match by how many times you get hit.
