5 people have been confirmed dead while 27 people are missing on the island with police saying there are no signs of life on the island

Oh Really? Surely they would have a bit of advance warning about a Volcano eruption and not dock there?

Its a live volcano, and they still do trips, same with Mount Etna I believe? just bad luck, though I would say after this all trips to live volcanos should be banned...:umm2:

Some of those involved are believed to be from Ovation of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean International cruise ship.
Officers are hoping to locate the people who are unaccounted for through the cruise ship's passenger list. So far, there has been no contact with any of those who were missing.

Yeah, i've been to Etna when the ground was steaming, it's part of the tourist route

Same here, I wouldn't go near an active volcano site at all, I'd feel like I would be tempting fate.

its a Private Owned Island.

There bodies on the Island
but no can pick them up yet - due to Danger of another Eruption.

Today they are going on the Island
to collect 9 bodies.
So long as they can be found fast.

Having been to many volcano, litterally seeing the explode from the mountain where I camped and another looking into it and see the lava it weird to say but in no moment have i ever felt in danger. its just not expected.

Although im in japan later this month and i am a bit scared of the earthquakes
