I don't think it's fair to judge them. The system is very much broken when it comes to rape cases most of the time, the victims are put on trial as much as the accused and the rate of conviction is very low. It's a lot of pain to go through just to potentially see your abuser get off scot free.

For victims of rape and abuse, Civil cases and outcomes are the best they can hope for sometimes.

You've also got to consider the fact that it's the US and a lot of insurance companies don't tend to cover psychological treatment. For some of these women, taking the money might be the only way for them to pay for the help they could need to move on.

I saw something on Reddit the other day, it was a photo of a hospital bill for someone who had been bitten by a Rattlesnake. They were charged over a hundred grand for the treatment when the anti-venom would be sold in other countries for a pittance in comparison. For something that's seen as 'non-vital', therapy could put people into debt in the US.

Harvey Weinstein ‘closely monitored’ in prison after catching a fever...


Harvey Weinstein is unwell and is being “closely monitored” in prison, a representative for the disgraced Hollywood mogul said.

The spokesman said they could not “confirm nor deny” the 68-year-old had tested positive for Covid-19 inside Wende Correctional Facility in New York.

Weinstein, who is serving a 23-year sentence for rape, has a fever, his representative confirmed to the PA news agency.

The once all-powerful film producer is considered vulnerable to coronavirus due to his age, weight and other medical issues, including a heart condition and high blood pressure.

A spokesman for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said they could not comment on individual cases but anyone displaying Covid-19 symptoms is immediately isolated and tested.
